Saturday Check-in
How was your day yesterday? What are your plans for today?
I got off to a later start today because I actually slept in! I don't think I have slept past 7 am in years unless I was sick. So this morning when the clock said 8:30 I was thinking it had to be wrong.
Yesterday was not as restful as I had planned. My DH installed a new hood over my new stove, so of course I had to do cleanup and then cook. While I was cooking I decided to do some laundry and then while everything was simmering I proceeded to clean bathrooms and so on. So here I sit in front of my fireplace with a cup of coffee in my clean house with lots of good food choices for the day.
Since I have completed all the chores and errands I had planned for the 3 day weekend all yesterday, I will relax today. I have enough food prepared to get through the weekend, but will make a few more dishes to get me through the first few days of the work week. I love my new stove and cookware. It is such a pleasure to cook when the temp. is true and the cookware cleans up so easily.
So I will stop rambling now, I really have NO plans for today. Share you plans, please.
Have a GREAT Saturday!
Hi Carrie,
I was a slug yesterday. I went to meet the handyman that is fixing my mother's rental, came home and crawled back in bed and snuggled with my girl who pulled an all nighter. I did a little emailing and surfing, then I made a turkey breast and trimmings for dinner and that was about the sum total of my productivity for yesterday.
I have to go meet the handyman again at Home Depot and run a few errands. I probably will work on dismantling the holiday decorations and stay close to home most of the day.
I'm cleaning out the cabinets and refrigerator today to get the contraband out of my house and start the new year fresh.
Hope you have a great day.

LOL... i was pretty sluggish myself yesterday. I too 2 naps!!!
I had some shrimp left over from New Years that i wanted to use up quickly, so i made a great shrimp pasta with asparagus, zucchini, tomatoes & shrimp over Barilla plus angel hair pasta... it was good!!! But I do still tend to cook with the "fat lady" head and made this HUGE pot full!!! With Stan & I each eating smaller portions it's enough to last us at least 4-5 meals!!! Some times i just don't know what i'm thinking!!!
Today will be a "fool around" day. Stan wants to get a haircut and a new winter every-day coat, so we'll head to a mall, then probably go to a movie (maybe 3-D Avatar) and out to dinner... even though we should come back home and eat shrimp pasta!!!
I took down what few holiday decorations i used, so that's out of the way. That's pretty much it for today. Everybody have a good one!!!
Yesterday started off rather difficult and kept going that way. I woke with a bad kink in my neck and it got worse as the day progressed. We went to my mom's for the traditional blackeyed peas. She also had pork roast, potatoes, fried cornbread, and mac and cheese. Tried to stick with the roast and peas but did have a bite of cornbread and mac and cheese. After dinner I sat in her traction machine but that didn't seem to help much. She took me to her closet before I left to give me the clothes that were too small for her. Upon returning home I took a nap and read for much of the evening.
Today I am still nursing the sore neck. My hubbie brought me eggs and cheese for breakfast as I sat on the couch. I then took a hot shower that helped to loosen my neck up a little. I have a birthday party for mydh's neice to go to today(would rather be home!). I have to go to the grocery store for school food today at some point. Any ideas for high protein foods that I can eat in short amounts of time would be greatly appreciated. This evening I'm thinking of making some chili or soup but we'll see. DH can't have spicy stuff due to acid reflux issues and I would live to make the chicken taco stuff tonight but he's not crazy over it. Someone posted something about white chili recently...may try that. ???
Everyone have a great day!
Something about a cold morning walk gets my blood pumping.
Today I will lift my weights and ride my bike.
I may have to wait till Monday to get my holiday decorations down I need a big box with a lid and I should get one on Monday with my Avon order LOL
Yesterday Lee grilled a pork roast and I cooked the traditional black eyed peas and some cabbage.
I tried some pork did ok but still a little rough.
I am totally ready to accept ground meats I do fine with most all seafood no problem all chicken no problem.
Pork and red meat is difficult I am only able to eat a small amount of that but it is ok.
I totally loved the cabbage and black eyed peas.
For those who dont know about southern New Years day foods here it is
Pork= prosperity
Backeyed peas = coins
Cabbage and or collard greens=money
After my workout I plan on watching an episode of Doctor Who that I missed last wek.
Any Doctor Who fans the 10th doctor regenerates tonight and we get a new Doctor.
Yesterday we also went to my moms to pick up my raindeer they are wimsicle yard art and she enjoyed having them at her house for the holidays.
My mom did not look well to me and I asked if she was using her CPAP she said no and she is having trouble with her wheelchair.
I told her come Monday morning I am calling the woman who has been such a help to me and my compression hose who also works with CPAP and is vice presedent of a medical supply store.
Basically on the way home I cried because of how I felt when seeing my mother's health declining.
