vitamins
Hi Alice,
I'm not familiar with the Celebrate vitamins, but it's crucial that you take your vitamins so one of the things I'd look at would be if the vitamins you are taking bundle the iron. Many do. Some people have a reaction to it and it makes them feel nauseous and may cause constipation. I'd be sure to contact your surgeon to let them know of the trouble that you are having and get some input from him.
I take Centrum Silver because it doesn't have iron and I have a genetic iron loading disorder that makes it dangerous for me to take iron. I take 1 multivitamin, twice a day.
I take Calicium Citrate w/600 mg of Vitamin D. We need to take a citrate based calcium to most effectively absorb the calcium we consume. I take 1600 mgs of Calcium broken into 4 doses each day because recent studies have shown that we need 1500 to 1800 mgs a day but we cannot absorb it all at one time.
I also take a sublingual b12.
Here is a comparison chart created by a fellow RNY patient. She has a wonderful blog with all sorts of helpful information that I think you will find interesting, but this chart provides a comparison of the various multivitamins that you might find especially helpful:
