Need Some Help
Hey Everyone,
Well, it has pretty much been about a year since I have been on here. I really need some help. I have really got off track with my diet, exercise and everything. I have just got in a rut with eating things I should and not really doing well at eating what I need to. I really just need some ideas how to jump back on board. I had my gastric bypass in November 2007 and have lost 130lbs, but haven’t lost anything in a while, but praise the Lord I haven’t gained anything. It’s harder for meals because the school I go to prepares food for us to eat. So I just need to encouragement and just some ideas. Also, I really need some exercise tips to lose weight but mostly to tone. I am 20, I shouldn’t be this flabby...lol... I am in 2 weddings in May and I would like to look good in that bridesmaid dress. Please help guys!! :-) I am just really disgusted with myself for not keeping up with this… I want to be happy with myself and I am not yet….But I know with God’s strength I can do anything!
Good luck.
Happy New Years
Hi Jennifer,
As you peruse the board you will see that you definitely are not the only one who has fallen off the wagon. When you are actively in the weight loss phase, it's honestly easier to keep your eye on the prize and stay more focused, when you reach your goal weight and life returns to some semblance of normalcy, it's easier to lose that focus. Also, the merriment of the holidays can make it all the more challenging. That said, this time of year, with new year's resolutions in mind is a great time to refocus your efforts. I actually gained a few pound over the holidays, but have already started to trim them back off. I am sure that you will be able to get the focus you need to get to where you want to be as well. If you need and/or want to tone up, it might be a good time to get a few good exercise DVDs, a Wii Fit or some other home system. You might also want to look up www.meetup.com and see if there is a group around that does an activity you might enjoy... Anywhere from a Zumba group, hiking group, rock climbing, dancing, etc... You might find a new passion that will fill your time and not your tummy while toning your newly svelt body.
You might also want to look at a couple of books that might be helpful re: making the choices to help you get to where you want to be... 'The Beck Diet Solution' by Dr. Judith Beck, not a diet, but a way to learn to think thin; the other book is 'Eat it Up' by Dr. Connie Stapleton and is geared and focused to post bariatric patients.
Wishing you all the best in the new year,
Barbara
