Christmas Day Check-in

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate and Good Morning to everyone!

I am sitting here drinking my morning coffee and posting.  My wonderful DH is making me a Christmas omelet for breakfast and then we are off for the day to celebrate with our friends.  I just need to make my pineapple casserole and gather my gifts and desserts.

Church was especially wonderful last night.  We had a precious toddler sitting behind us and every time there  was singing she sang too, just not the same words!  There was a male solo singing "What Child is This" and she participated.  It really was priceless.   Maybe it is because I don't have any children that these moments touch me so much, I know it annoys others sometimes.

Yesterday I did very well with my food choices, but without my sippie cup, I believe I came up short on the fluids.  That sippie cup really does make a big difference when it is just sitting there begging me to drink.  I definitely will need to invest in a second one to keep here at home.

We went out on the motorcycles yesterday, but I found it too cold even with winter gear to go too far.  I love riding my own bike and that is another WOW for me.  I would never have gotten my own bike or even dared to ride behind my husband preop.  Now I often feel the need for speed and the freedom I feel when I am pilot of my own bike.

My plans for today are to eat my omelet and maybe a protein shake before we leave around noon.

I will make wise choices for my Christmas dinner and then when we return this evening I will make another protein shake.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day and that Santa was good to each and everyone.

Again, Merry Christmas..............Carrie

Hi Carrie,

I'm glad to hear that you had such a nice start to your Christmas with the lovely Christmas Eve Service. I do think that Christmas is a time for children and new beginnings and I hope that everyone else was as warmly touched by the toddler's exuberance as you were.

We set out luminaries last night, as is the tradition in our neighborhood. I put the ham and sides in the oven and then we set off to tour the neighborhood and see the beautiful lights and luminaries. After that, we came home and shared a lovely dinner together. Once dinner was done we decorated the cookies and set them out for Santa.

This morning we had a cup of hot coffee and opened our gifts. Later we went to the movies and then came home for a late lunch.

Normally we are in CA at this time of year surrounded by friends and family. This is hard holiday for me and magnifies how much I miss my children and extended family. Maybe next year...
