What is your biggest struggle?

List your 3 best WOW moments?
I woke up from Surgery and really had the surgery. It wasn't a joke... The other is when I got dressed for the Marine Corps ball this year and put on my dress. I actually look awesome.. And not a big blimp for once.

Have a wonderful day, and Merry Christmas

What i find very interesting is how similar we all are...
We mostly have problems with water intake
We mostly have our spouse as our BFF
We mostly have the same struggles with eating/excercise
We mostly prefer being behind the camera instead of out front
We mostly have the same WOW's
We mostly respect the fact that our WOW's are thing that most people take for granted
We mostly are thankful for our surgery, our journey, our support, our friends
Thanks everyone for being so open and willing to share!!!
Oh yeah, and thanks Sid for the oatmeal cookie info!!!!
Hi Judy,
I agree that we are much more alike than different... No matter which surgery path we take, which program we use, etc... We much more alike than different.
I hope and Stan are enjoying a lovely Merry Christmas.

What is your favorite WLS friendly snack?
I'm still on a liquid diet, so I'm not allowed any friendly snacks yet.
Last movie you saw in a movie theater?
"Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" -- saw it about 6 hours ago with my girls (they're 7 and 4).
Do you have a BFF?
Not really. I moved a lot growing up, so there aren't a lot of people who I've known "forever". I do have a "best friend", but she lives up North. We don't talk on the phone much (we're both really busy), but we keep up via e-mails and Facebook. I'm divorced so no spouse for the best friend.
What is your favorite time of day?
After everyone has gone to sleep. I love it.
What is your favorite way to relax?
A massage, a pedicure, surfing on the net, reading, NY Times Crossword puzzles...
How much H20 do you drink a day?
See question 1. I'm still on a liquid diet, so I'm drinking between 40-60 ounces a day depending on how long I'm awake.
What is your biggest struggle?
Head hunger. I swear I'm hungry. Really. I swear my stomach is growling. Luckily the things I'm craving are the things I'll be able to eat in a few weeks -- eggs and cheese (and sometimes chicken).
List your 3 best WOW moments?
Not a lot so far, but I was amazed at how good I felt after my surgery. The only other surgeries I've had were my two c-sections, so I was basing my recuperation on those. This was so much easier than those (for me). I was out of surgery around 6pm and I was up walking the halls of the hospital at 1am (I woke up and couldn't fall back to sleep).
Do you like being in pictures
No. No. No. I'm afraid if something ever happens to me, my kids are going to forget what I look like because there are so few pictures of me with them.
What can you do now that you couldn’t do before WLS?
Um...stay on a liquid diet for a week and a half? Seriously - I can't wait until I can cross my legs and shop in a regular store. Those will be major milestones for me.

Hi Buggy,
You may have noticed that I also had Dr. DeMaria, about 2.5 years ago. I often still go to the monthly support group meetings that they host at Duke, so if you attend those be sure to come up and say hello. I also host support group meetings in Raleigh. I do a general meeting once a month on the 3rd Saturday morning of the month and others are on weeknight evenings throughout the month. If you are ever interested in attending, just go to www.meetup.com/nc-wls and sign up; you'll get an email notification to let you know when we are having meetings.
I look forward to getting to know you as you make this incredible, life-changing journey.
All the best,
Barbara

How much H20 do you drink a day? - about 64 ounces, most in the form of hot tea.
What is your biggest struggle? - staying away from carbs, remembering this is a life change.
List your 3 best WOW moments? - getting into size 24 seven jeans, throwing away all my fat clothes; having someone not recognize me at all. -- The very best: having a doctor at my support group telling me I had hit ideal body weight and having a plastic surgeon tell me he had never seen anyone so successful, in over 15 years, and that I would be "fun to operate on," despite the fact I can't afford it.
Do you like being in pictures? - No - hate it - my face looks so old since WLS; however, I just had Juvederm and Botox - YEA!
What can you do now that you couldn't do before WLS? - Ride horseback, shop for pretty clothes, walk with my head high when I meet strangers, ride on an airplane without a seat belt extender, not have to pick black all the time to wear (although I still love black), wear high heels without my feet hurting, eat "normally," feel "normal." Wear a leather jacket that isn't a giant black tent made out of leather that could stand up on its own; wear jeans without spanx.
Hi Kit,
I miss you too! I hope we'll be able to see one another more this year.
A BFF is a 'Best Friend Forever'... now you know who has a teenage girl in her house don't you?
I wish I could wear jeans without spanx... I have too much muffin top.
I'd love to hear about your experience w/Juvederm and Botox. I hope it was entirely successful.
See you soon,
Barbara
