Monday Check-in
Well, it is Monday morning, but just barely. I guess I got too much rest again this weekend (same thing happened last weekend) and now I am wide awake and ready for my day at
12:48 am. Honestly, I believe the hormones are playing a part in this "sleep" problem. But I am journaling it to see if there is a pattern.
Yesterday was a lovely day. I enjoyed our lunch at Smokey Bones. After lunch we came home and relaxed in front of the fireplace and watched football (read: DH slept and I read a book).
After a dinner of my homemade chili, I made a patch of cookies my co-worker made this week. I took her recipe and exchanged sugar substitutes for both white and brown sugars, vanilla protein powder for the flour. When she made them they were crunchy and crumbly just like I love them, but I could only tolerate 1/4 of the cookie, my cookies were more soft but still have a good taste and loads of protein to boot. I froze them to see if that would make them crunchier.
I think I will do as Annie suggested and visit the store on my lunch break for a 32oz cup to use to get my fluids in. Or since I am already up, I will have plenty of time to visit Wally World on my way to work.
Today is another really busy day at work and then a Christmas Party. We will be having Thai food. I love the salad with the beef strips in it and the cabbage soup with tofu and chicken in it.
This party is at my 2nd adopted family's house and I love watching Katie open her presents. I have watched Katie grow up from a little girl of about 4 to a beautiful young lady of 13 (going on 25!). Her mother is a co-worker and single mother.
It is hard to believe that Christmas Day is just a few short days away!
Wishing everyone a Wonderful Monday!

Another weekend full of shopping and getting together with family and friends. Saturday was the family day. My brother and his wife came down from VA. My sister and her family were not able to make it. Even if they could have the snow would have stopped them. They live in NJ. My boys and a fiance joined us at my parents house. It was a good time. My older son and my brother kept us all laughing.
Sunday I actually slept in a bit. Normally I cannot sleep past 6am since I get up during the week at 4:15. But on Sunday, I slept until 8:30. Then I went to church and did the last bit of shopping before coming home to a day of sitting in front of the fireplace watching Christmas movies with the family.
Back to work today. Nice short week and then all of the fun is over for another year. I want to slow down and enjoy this week. Time is flying by.
OH BIG NEWS! I am always complaining that all of the girls I know who had surgery are saying how they are being flirted with now. I don't want to cheat on my husband but I thought it would be nice to be noticed. Wasn't happening. Poor me.... lol. Well Saturday at my part time job a guy asked me out. ON A DATE! It was so much fun to hear. Of course I said I was married etc but I also let him know that it was flattering to be asked and I thanked him. I was riding high all day. Silly I know but it felt good. Hubby laughed at me and told me that he was glad that it made me happy but I was not allowed to go on dates with anyone but him. He is so cute.
Have a good week and remember to slow down and enjoy the season. Merry Christmas.
