I am going through the approval process right now. I live in Jacksonville, NC I was hoping to find someone that maybe was doing the same thing as me. My doctor is Dr.Harris. Anybody out there on the same page? or have any advice for me..

We have several members from the Jacksonville/Wilmington area that have used Dr. Harris and all reports I've heard from people working with him over the past couple of years have been very positive.

If you go under the search bar on the top right hand portion of the page, you will see a link for 'bariatric surgeons'. If you click that and do a search for Dr Harris in NC, you will probably find comments from others who have used him. You might want to look at what they had to say and you can click on their profile to see about sending them a private message to ask them about their experiences with his program and to see if they have any suggestions or advice that would be particular to that program. 

You are always most welcome to ask for advice and support from the general NC board, Main board and the board related to your surgery type. Please remember that each program functions a little differently and what may be the norm for some, is not for others. This is particularly true when it comes to the dietary component of the program, including whether they require you to do a 2 week fast prior to surgery or not.

yeah,  I found the comments on Dr. Harris. They were all positive and made me feel alot better about everthing!

I'm so glad that you found the information and that it made you feel better. 

I did not use the same dr and I had surgery almost a yr ago but I do like in J'ville.  If you have any questions we wil all do our best to help you out.  Those of us in the J'ville area try to get together every other month to meet up, have dinner and talk about our issues or what ever comes up.  I hope you will join us.  We just had a Dec meet up so our next one will be in Feb.  No matter where you are in the process you are welcome. 

That's great. They have the support meetings on the second monday of every month. I went this past time and I leared a lot. I was hoping that there was one that met here as well to kidof have people that are close to here that I could get together with for some support with what not to do and what to do...That would be great I would love to come to dinner and meet some people in the area. Just let me know and I can try to be there!

I had Dr. Harris, and he is great!! Merideth is who you'll work with the most after your surgery, and she is wonderful. Good luck!!

Hey Diane; I used Dr. Harris and he is wonderful!! I had surgery on July 15, 2009, I have had very little problems!! I live close to Jacksonville and  also have a support group that meets once a month and I try to go to the one in Wilmington when I can. I missed the last one because my mom was sick. Our next meeting is Janurary 23rd @ 6:30pm, You are welcome to join us anytime and most of us have used Dr. Harris.
