New here! Anyone have the DS procedure?

I have been a lurker on the OH boards for several years but am new to the NC forum. We have recently gotten confirmation that my husband's new insurance plan will cover BS! 

Has anyone had the Duodenal Switch procedure through a Center of Excellence in NC? 

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!

Hi Sabrina,

I have not had the DS, I had RNY through Duke. Duke is now doing the DS with Dr. Sudan. Angela Parham, who is a member of OH and my support groups had her DS through Dr. Smith in Atlanta. When she had hers, Duke was not offering it. I'm sure that if you contact her, she'll be glad to share her experiences with you.

BTW... I have support group meetings in the Raleigh area and they are open to all regardless of surgery type or program. You can get updates on upcoming meetings through my meetup site at http://www.meetup.com/nc-wls.

This is a few days late, so I hope you get a reply notice. I had my DS a month ago at Durham Region, with Dr. Sudan. Dr. Sudan is fantastic, and Durham Regional was hands down the best hospital I have ever stayed in. Feel free to pm me with any questions you might have!
