Sunday Check-in

Good Afternoon Everyone!

I am a little late in my check-in but better late than never.  I slept in late this morning, I never sleep past 7 am but never even turned over until until 8:30 this morning.

We got in really late last evening from a Christmas party and I was exhausted from my little "vacation".  I had a really good time last night and even got DH to dance, not one but 2 dances.  Again I can reflect on the evening and realize how much my "party time" has changed.  It  is no longer  focused around the food as much as the socializing.  I never got past the yummy appetizer last night.  The fruit, vegetable and cheese trays were enough of a meal for me.  I was not even interested in the chicken, beef or pork roast offered.  And other than a glance I never gave the dessert table another thought.  Coffee is still my drug of choice so while everyone else was enjoying mixed drinks and wine, I enjoyed my coffee.

I don't think I have laughed or smiled (real not pretend) as much as I have this season.

This morning I got up and had a light breakfast of protein oatmeal and off we went for another get together brunch.  I had a bowl of cheesy broccoli soup and came home to relax with a hot protein drink.  DH is on the couch "watching" the football game (I can hear him snoring!)

I look forward to going back to work tomorrow just because I need the rest!  I was able to get so much accomplished with my 2 day "vacation" that now I hope to be able to really enjoy the festivities of the season.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday afternnoon.

The socializing is awesome this year. I've enjoyed doing the "traditional" Christmas cooking today - in our house it was never the Turkey or Ham that took center stage but the sweets leading up to Christmas. My boys told me that they missed that last year. SO......what's a mom to do.....I cooked.

As soon as I'd finish a goodie -I've immediately seperated it out to what goes to work with David, what goes home with Wayne and what gets put at my Mom's for Buddy when he comes home Thursday. None of it is staying here or going to work with me. Even though I dump on sugar ----I still don't trust myself with it around. So now all the tins are on the table waiting to be picked up or delivered. I've got 3 very happy men on my hands.

Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape.

Iris, like you I can not tolerate the sugar or flour either.  But I made everyone happy with the baked treats and I think making it was actually more enjoyable this year since I was not spending time rationalizing why I should eat some too.  I have finally gotten to the point in my journey where food is no longer my focus.  It is one of my GREATEST Christmas gifts ever.

The scale may not have moved in some time, but the rewards are still coming.  I am so looking forward to what new discoveries I have coming in 2010.

Hope you have a GREAT week!
