Just Checking In
Hi Everyone,
It has been a long time since I have checked in with you all. I have been lurking, reading and trying to keep up with you all, but life has been keeping me pretty busy.
Mom is still having issues with her health and they put her on aricept last week for Alzheimer's/dementia. She is getting very difficult to handle and is at the point of no longer being able to stay home alone all the time. My husband and I are making arrangements to move over to her house after the holidays. Right now we are in and out making sure she is eating and taking her meds. I have fought with the Dr for over 1 yr about trying to get something done. I just hope they have not waited until it is too late to help.
Anyway, I am doing fine with my lapband. I had one setback about a month ago when I had bronchitis and had to have 2 cc's removed because I could not keep water down. (Movement of diaphragm irritated stomach where the band is and the opening was swollen shut). I worked hard at not gaining any weight and was successful (didn't lose any, but didn't gain any either!) My Dr was pleased as he was pretty sure I would gain. I have had a fill and have started to lose again. I am down around 84 lbs overall.
I hope you and yours had a great Thanksgiving and will have a wonderful Christmas if I don't get to chat before then.
Hugs,
Vera

Hi Vera,
I'm so sorry to hear of your mother's struggles and how it impacting you and your husband. As you know, my mother is struggling as well and it's hard to watch your parents decline.
Congratulations on doing such a great job with holding your weight steady when you had the fluid removed from your band. That's a real win!
Wishing you continued success as you make the march down the road with your new fill.
You've been missed.

Hi, Vera ~
It's so good to hear from you, and I notice that you're half-way there on your weight loss! Congratulations!
I understand about what you're going through with your mother. Mine is in her 80's, and even though she isn't in the same situation, it is difficult to go through. I'm really proud of how well you've done with all of the stress - we all know how easy it is to go back to bad habits, so "Hooray for YOU!!!"
Take care of yourself, and know that we are always here to support you, just like you've been there to support me in the past!
Hugs,
Betsy
