Just wondering if someone could recommend a good plastic surgeon in NC.  I have looked around and investigated several in the Raleigh and Wilmington area.  Anyone have any suggestions that I could further research...

I' nearly 2 years out and am in the process of looking at cosmetic surgeons.  So far my favorite is Dr Schwarz in Raligh, NC.  He's not the least expensive by far, but he's the one that gave me his time and was willing to answer all of my questions, in fact, he's answered some of my questions more than once when i didn't understand or misunderstood.  The first visit he spent well over an hour with me on each of my 2 visits him so far.  I've seen 2 other sugeons, neither gave me at "warm fuzzies".

Good luck on your seach.  It's certainly not an easy process, and most surgeons chage $100 for that initial visit.  So it can be cost prohibitive just to talk to enough surgeons to get an idea of whether or not you like them.  I want to make sure i'm 100% confident in the person i choose to work on my body...

I just had my first plastic surgery with Dr. Schwarz. He handled my panniculectomy. It wasn't a tummy tuck, but insurance paid for this so I didn't complain. He removed 30lbs of skin (my panus).  He's been awesome every step of the way.

After my experience with this, I can't imagine seeing anyone else for the rest of the surgeries I will need.

I've lost (including the 30 lbs he removed Sept 1) 242 lbs.  My arms are bad, but my legs are now the worst of the lot.

I know there is another member on the boards who used Dr. Schwarz for all of her plastic surgeries.  I can't remember her board name though.

If I had one complaint about him, it's actually his staff. And even then, it's not a complaint. Erica, his scheduler stays so busy that the 100% best way to stay in contact about anything after you talk to him is via email.

His initial consultation is free, which doesn't hurt either.

My husband just asked me to add that he also liked Dr. Schwarz a lot. Anytime my husband had questions, Dr. S never made him feel stupid.  Even when I ran into my complication (I developed an infection - to no fault of anyone's), Dr. S was extremely attentive and kept my husband in the loop and stayed in touch with him after I got home from the hospital to make sure my husband didn't have any problems or questions after the fact.

Hubby says that only one other doctor in his entire life made him feel that comfortable and that was actually my bariatric surgeon - which I see that you and I share the same - Dr. Mitchell.

If you like Dr. Mitchell and his attentiveness and his compassion, you'd LOVE Dr. Schwarz.

In fact, I just had my two year follow up with Mitchell. He originally recommended Dr. Oswald for plastic surgery. Dr. O was callus and quick and didn't seem to have a lot of time for me or my questions, especially when I mentioned trying to get insurance to pay. He became even less attentive, if that was possible.

I talked to Dr Mitchell about that and then talked to him about Dr. Schwarz and his interaction with patients. Dr. Mitchell looked at my surgery site (staples had just been removed) and was very impressed with the work and liked what I had to say about Dr. Schwarz's attitude towards WLS patients and Dr. Schwarz's ability to understand quickly the needs of a WLS patient (my pain meds and antibiotics, he got in liquids since we use them far better than we use tablets - also while in the hospital, he made to sure write up that I could use my own vitamins so I could take my chewables instead of fighting with the hospital).

I'm having a LBL by Dr. Lynne Garrison in Greenville on Nov. 24th.  I've seen her work and her results are awesome.  She does most of her surguries in her own OR in her office.

This is the website:  http://www.gpsurg.com/

Good luck in your search!
