Can anyone here recommend an Endocrinologist and/or Hematologist (for iron infusion) in the Raleigh area?
I'm hoping to find doctors that are well-informed about weight-loss surgery patients and their special requirements.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Tabitha,

I'm not sure the extent of their experience and knowledge of WLS patients. I have hemochromatosis and therefore work with a hematologist. When I was originally considering surgery, my hematologist mentioned that she has a number of WLS patients that require infusions, but that for me the bypass might prove to help my condition. At any rate, she is a warm, knowledgeable, competent Dr. Her name is Dr. Maha ElKordy and she has offices in Raleigh and Cary.

I hope this helps.

Carolina Endocrine on Blue Ridge Rd. Nicole there used to work in a WLS clinic. She was very encouraging and knowledgable about what I was getting ready to do.

Dr Shawnie Weir is my endocrinologist.  I absolutely love her.  She seems very open about WLS and listens well to her patients.
