At so early out my "tastes" were all over the place. I ordered a sample pack from Bariatric Eating that had like 12 different things in it. Some I loved (Banana Cream - go figure) and some I hated (actually spit out and washed down the sink).

Sugar Free puddings made with high protein slim fast became a favorite. Good Luck.

Hi Shan,

Iris is really right, you may find that your tastes will be all over the map. I'd suggest going to your nearest Vitamin Shoppe or GNC store and seeing what they have. I was able to purchase some things there and could return them if I didn't like them and that did happen a few times. While some people like the protein bullets, my dietitian preferred that we didn't use them much because they don't provide a very complete suppliment. My  husband really preferred the bottled ISOPURE because it wasn't as 'thick' as many of the shakes are. I liked one called AmericanWhey.

My program wanted us to get a minimum of 40 Grams of protein and preferred if we could get closer to 60 to 80 grams. That's something that I had to work up to, not something I could do in the first few weeks. Please contact Karen at Dr. Farrel's office to get their guidelines on the amount of protein that they want you to get.

I think that everyone is different when it comes to which protein drinks are good - unfortunately you're probably going to have to try some first before you find one or several that you like and can tolerate. That being said, I swear by the AchievOne Ready to Drink protein drinks. They have several flavors - my favorite is the Capuccino flavor - tastes very similar to a Starbucks bottled frapp to me. They only have 15 grams of protein per drink, but it is only 8.25 ounces so not too bad per volume. My thought on that too is if it tastes so bad you don't drink it its no good anyway.

I order the drinks from iBariatric.com. You have to buy a case of 48 but they do offer free shipping, and may be willing to send or sell samples if you ask.

I found that before surgery and I was trying different protein shakes, I mainly liked the chocolate and strawberry cream. After I had the surgery though, OMGoodness, I could not stand chocolate, strawberry or any other kind. Even non flavored ones. The only one I could stand was banana. They sell it at GNC. Its called GNC Pro Performance Soy Protein 95. They have all kinds of flavors but like I said the only one I liked and could tolerate (I became lactose intolerant after surgery) was the banana flavor.

My tastes have changed sooooo much since having the surgery but I wouldnt trade it for anything. I have lost over 100 pounds in less then  months. So I wish you all of the best of luck..You can do it!!!!

I use Nectar Syntax Latte Cappucino and mix it with milk.  It is the only one I found that I liked out of the ones I tried.  I have never tried the Achieve one.
