Thirsty!!!

I was wondering if anyone else has trouble with being really thirsty during meals.  I am not able to get all of my liquids in but it seems like it hits me while I'm eating that I have to drink.  What do I do about this?

BTW, I know we aren't supposed to drink while eating, that this can mess up our weight loss, but can anyone tell me why?  I know I've been told but cannot for the life of me remember.

Thanks,
Ginny

Hi Ginny,
The way I understand it is when we mix our food with liquid it washes the food through the pouch sorta like a funnel.
Also the longer the food can sit in your pouch the more satisfied you will feel.
I am in no way a role model with this I still tend to sip through my meal.
I do limit how much.

Annie has it right, the goal is to keep our food in the pouch as long as possible so we feel full.  Not drinking while eating has probably been the hardest thing for me.  I always drank several glasses of tea while I ate, so this has been a huge task for me to control.

I do have a glass of something sitting around incase I have something spicy, but I only sip enough to cool it down.

Good luck!  Alice

I have also found that not drinking with my meal has been the hardest habit to change, and it is still a work in progress.  i know this will end up being a "problem" for me once I start getting fills if i don't change my ways.  I am trying to "hide" my water when i eat.  but it is definitely hard.

i am also having a hard time reminding myself to chew chew chew.  this too will haunt me after i start getting fills................any advice???

I do better with the chewing thing when I am alone.  When I eat with people in a social setting or when I'm hungry I settle back into that old habit of wolfing down my food until I start to hurt.  My husband will look at me and say "Slow down" so it's nice to have someone there to remind me but he's not always there.

I try not to get anythong to drink when I go out but then I know I'll want something for later.  I guess this is just part of the training process.  I heard someone say (I think it was Barb) the first year is all about learning how to eat.  The second year is about dealing with the changes.

Good luck!
