What the heck is wrong with you? Nothing... you see a sweet treat being dangled in front of you and you want it.
Are you really craving carbs? Is your body telling you it needs that m&m cookie? My guess would be no... is your mind wanting you to eat the cookie? more than likely yes....
Its not easy post-op to break bad habits... but take each day as it comes. Is that cookie worth it? No... is it worth everything youve been thru? naaah. Do you want to risk getting sick over it? surely not.
Go give the rest of the cookies away... heck toss them in the trash... oops they fell on the floor :-) temptation is hard.. sometimes it not being there makes it a little easier! You are stronger than that cookie... so dont give in.

Thanks.  I managed to avoid the cookies... And belive me if they are still there when I go by this afternoon they will go in the trash.  What the heck is wrong with people bringing stuff like that to work..  That being said.  I am craving all kinds of carbs.  I average about 30 to 40g a day and 80g of protein.  I think I may add some more fruit or try to find some good carbs so I don't go nuts..

I have to disagree with what Annie said... the majority of RNY'ers do not dump, of those that do its off different amounts of sugar/foods. I personally dont dump. I could eat a few of those cookies and be fine :-)

Food being around is life... wait until the holidays! :-) When I was first post-op I worked at a Drs office... I had to quit because it was too much food... they had a full kitchen and people were always cooking... plus we had fully stocked snacks in addition to the lunches they catered every day... ugggh!!

Fruit and veggies are always good and whole grains :-)

Kelly,
Great advice from Jennifer but my advice is go ahead eat that cookie or two and you will be in store for a correction.
Once you experice this I promise you will NEVER touch a M& M cookie again.
Sometimes we just need to experince things.

Hi Kelly,

As usual, Jennifer is on the money. What you are experiencing is often known as head-hunger and it's definitely something that we need to learn to discern, recognize and manage. If you haven't already gotten a copy of the 'Beck Diet Solution' I would seriously suggest that you get a copy. I found it (and still do find it) to be very helpful in learning to identify and manage things like head-hunger.

Hang in there!

Thanks Barbara.  I will have to check that out.  I have always had a sweet tooth.  I was hoping it wouldn't be as hard after surgery.  I am avoiding the sweets but completely out of fear!

Kelly- I've been dealing with some of this lately, and I went through a very depressing stage recently where I could not believe how I had abused my body for many years by overeating and bad food choices. So-looking ahead-I make sure everyday I do something good for my body-or not do. Today I am going to take care of myself by not putting anything in it that is not nourishing. Today I am going to love myself and eat protein and vitamins and lots of water. Today I am going to take care of me. Please take care of you today.
