need party dress?!?

For the first time in my life I'm planning to go to my high school reunion and it's a week from now.  New Bern High, Class of '79!  I only have ONE pretty dress that fits me right now.  I bought it about 2 months ago, so it's a tad big on me, but it drapes and flows very nicely.  I need one more pretty dress, 'cause it's a 2-day thing.  Friday night is a ****tail party and Saturday night is the dinner and dance with a DJ.   I went online to Catherines last night and didn't see a single thing I liked.  Everything looked like a Sunday-best dress or was very matronly.  I want something SEXY, i.e., a party dress.  I need a 2X I think.  Maybe a 22/24, although that may be a little big now.  I'm not sure.  I guess it depends on the cut.  I have big hips (pear shaped).  Where can I go to find something?  I have always shopped in plus size stores, so I have no idea what other stores carry sizes like this.  Do Belks, Stein Mart, and TJMax carry sizes like this?  I only have a week to find something  HELP!!

I was in Belk's in Greenville tonight and they have some of those "maxi" dresses in plus sizes.  Did you try Lane Bryant?  They seem to have some nice, "sexy" things as well.

I was in a Lane Bryant in the Mall of America up in Minneapolis when I was up there recently and noted that everything looked like stuff teenagers wear.  Plus, lots of things were sleeveless and I can't wear sleeveless things because of my "batwings" now.  I was looking at blouses though and didn't notice what kinds of dresses they had.  I could check them out when I go to Greenville on Monday though.

I found a lovely one a few years ago at Dillard's and it wasn't matronly or  sunday-best.

I don't think I have a Dillards too close to me.  I think I'd have to go to Raleigh and that's over a 2 hour drive for me.  I don't think there's a Dillards in Greenville, but I'll check.  There may be one in Wilmington, but it's almost as far as Raleigh is from me.

What about Macy's or Belk's? Also consider a good consignment store...eBay has also been good to me.

 

I don't know if you would want to come to the Fayetteville area, but the website BraggYardSales.com has all sorts of dressier dresses between people selling old military ball dresses and ****tail dresses, etc. with many of them being those sorts of sizes.

HI!  If you have a TJMaxx nearby--by all means check it out.  Our stores on the West Coast have Plus Sizes--dresses and coordinates.  You can't beat the prices either.  Between Macy's and TJMaxx I did most of my plus size shopping (when I was plus size!!!!).

This is my THIRTY year high school reunion.  I ain't THAT young!! LOL!!    In fact, it makes me feel old as heck!! 

Kiddo--it's all relative...  My next HS reunion is my 40th!!!  Wish I'd had this surgery 10 yrs. ago in my lifespan like you!   Again, have a ball.
