ok I start my preop liquid (optifast) diet on Aug. 19th. I have bought a bunch of boost, slim fast, and ensure, and have been trying to mock the diet. Haven't done so well so far. I am so afraid I won't be able to stick to no eating for 2 weeks. That seems like forever. I know post op I will have the tool working for me, but pre op nothing buy my poor weak mind. Any suggestions?

You will be fine... Most of the 2 weeks, you will not even want to eat.  You will be so in awe of the weight loss, that you won't want to wreck it..  You will have urges and desires but nothing like before surgery.  Just keep in mind that if you can make it those 2 weeks, then you will be able to go the distance...  Don't forget that it's a tool to help you... You don't have the tool yet.  It's hard to do a job right without the proper tools... Just hang in there and much luck to you...

I wish you a lot of luck in keeping on your liquid diet. Mine will be Atkins diet with less than 35 carbs for two weeks as you know.
All my preops things are in and I have an appt with Dr. Nazari on Aug 12, where my husband goes with me. Then insurance approval then I hope I can have my surgery by mid Sept. I hope there's not a back log.
I am so excited for you! I keep feeling like my time will never come!
I wish you every success with your surgery and recovery. Jackie

hi michelle,

i am sure you will do great!  i am 3 weeks out.  i have only been eating for 1 week now.  the pre-op liquid diet and the first week after surgery were a piece of cake for me.  however, the second week after surgery, as i was beginning to feel better, i found that last week of liquids to be tough.  they did allow me to include a little broth, which helped break up the monotany of the protein drink.  that second week after surgery was the absolute worst.

i am sure you will do fine.  i just kept telling myself, "keep your eyes on the prize."   i lost 17 pounds from the beginning of the pre-op diet to one week post-op (2 week period).  that made it all worth while!!!  remember "eyes on the prize!"

good luck!
