Have broken Goal
Went to follow up wound visit with Dr. Chapman today and was pleased to see the numbers 177 on the scale... This means I am 3 pounds under the original goal weight of 180 that Dr. C set for me before surgery.... He was really pleased with my progress considering the cancer and chemo stuff I have had this past year... So I am a "Happy Camper" here tonite... I am sooo happy my PCP suggested gastric bypass back in May,2005... Took me a couple of years to get it done but I have not regretted the first moment.... Best advice I have gotten was from this wonderful website and this board... "Listen to your body... It will tell you what you can and can't tolerate... and especially listen to your doctors..." This is what I pass on to anyone I meet who has had surgery, in process or who is thinking about it... and most importantly of all... to read as much as you can about gastric bypass and do your research... so you can be as informed as possible... when you are... half the battle is already won.... Just wanted to share this new wow with my OH friends....

Hey girl... I am absolutely sure you will do even greater than I have done... As for what has kept me on track? Well, the main thing is that I wanted the best health I could have... and the other major thing has been... that I didn't want to be labeled a "failure" by others if I had not stayed on track... You see a mutual friend of a friend had made the comments, "Nelle won't be able to lose... she won't follow what she needs to do... she will fail"... Well... that stuck in the back of my mind... I have always been told actions are better than words... and I decided to let my actions prove my metal so to say... and currently I am, I would say a good 30 pounds less in weight than the person who made those comments... I don't put it in her face but I know that she thinks of what she said and how I have proven her wrong each time she sees me... As I said in my original post... the best advice has been to listen to my body... it tells me what I can and can not tolerate... and I listen to my doctors... and keep The Father utmost in my journey... Not sure if this answers the question but it's kind of the basis of how I have been working my tool and making this amazing journey.... Hope you DH is doing well and I know you are doing great... Hope to see you at the next support meeting... Til then, take care of each other and stay strong!!!
