Eating Triggers

We all have eating triggers. They might be related to our environment, or emotions, social settings, our mental state or even our biological needs for fuel.

It's important that we identify our triggers, subtle and obvious, so that we can recognize and manage them. Please think about your eating triggers and let's discuss what they are and ways we can manage them so that we don't become slaves to them.

I read this yesterday and needed to think on it some.  I realized that really without thinking about it much I have already changed some of mine.  I eat when I am bored.  So, to combat this, I have held off my breakfast until 9 am ish when I am at work.  I used to eat as soon as I got to work after the gym.  Then I was eating again around 10am.  Not because I was hungry.  I was bored.  Now I have something to drink and eat a bit later.  It works out really well for me.  I also brough a book to work with me.  Most people don't  have that problem of not having enought to do at work.  It is frustrating.  I am still working on it at home.  Boredom is my big problem.

Hi Sandy,

I'm glad that this thread caused you to really take some time and think about it. One of the great things about WLS is that it forces you to take a step back and regroup. It's great that you have identified a major trigger and are working to manage it.

Keep up the good work... It will hold you in good stead in the long term.
