I am new to the NC area and having a bit of a rough time finding a doctor. I had gone down to see Dr. Miles in Wilmington. After having my first consult appt changed 3 times... My last apt I drove down there ( from Camp Lejeune ) only to find a note on the door that the office was closed. ???? I was and am a tad frustrated~ And now they can not get me in for another month. Am I wrong for searching for a different Dr??? I was looking at Dr. Farrel at UNC my husband has had a couple surgeries at UNC chapel hill and they are very nice people!! Anyone else been there???

Am I stupid for wanting to find a different doc?? Sorry I am just flustered lol

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks so much

Since you seem to be willing to drive - I love Dr. Mac at Southern Surgical in Greenville. Let us know where you end up going.

I would agree that Southern Surigical in Greenville is a good place.  I was given the run around in Wilmington and actually went through PRE-OP with Dr. Harris.  I did not have a good experience.  I just felt like it was all about getting as many patients ($$$) as they come in and not about you personally.  But Southern Surgical are real pro's and everything has been going smooth so far.  I was stressed out seriously when I was going through this in Wilmington.

I know what you mean.  I was denied because they did not include all the paperwork.  I did not go to any doctor for like a year after that.  I was just so done.  The nurse called me and was like you can come and pick up your file....they did not even resubmit.  They also wanted me to stay in the hospital overnight..which my insurance would not agree to for Lap Band.  They stated that Lap Band should be an outpatient, they want you to stay less than 24 hours.  But the Dr. wanted me to stay for no good reason...I really felt like it was just a surgery  mill.  Like they were all about money.  Totally unorganized!

Sometimes you get bad vibes from the start.  I have FED Blue Cross and they normally approve within a week.  it was just the office I was dealing with, I was not even concerned about approval.  But when they do not submit all the paper work and want to do there own thing.  Denial can happen, it was so not my insurance fault.

i am a patient of Dr Miles.  His office has done that to me too.  I have often thought about finding another Dr to do my follow up appts.  My first appt after surgery was canceled but I was not called.  I got there and there was no one there to see me.  I live in Jacksonville so we traveled about the same to get there.  My next appt was rescheduled after I had already made arrangements at work.  I had to rearrange my work schedule once again.  The next time they called to reschedule and I refused.  I told them I couldn't..   My 6 month appt, I rescheduled because I had not seen Dr Miles since he operated on me.  I was set to see the PA again.  I changed appt times to see the Dr.  I got there and I saw the PA.  she said the Dr was too busy.  So, I saw the PA.  Then it was time to make my 1 yr appt.   I told her when I made the appt for 1 yr appt that I wanted to see Dr Miles.  We made the date and time.  I put it in my phone right there.  I then asked her if I was going to see Dr Miles at this appt just to make sure.  She said no he is not in on Thursdays.  (like she didn't hear me just asking for an appt with him???) Now, it was a Thursday that I was there asking and he was there with a patient that apparently was more important than I was since I did not get to see him.  Nothing makes sense in that place.  So, I changed my appt date again.  We will see if I get him this time.  They guy walked right past me and didn't even know who I was since I have only ever seen him twice.  Once at the pre-op and then in surgery but I was asleep.  If I were you I would run not walk to another Dr office.
