It's my one year surgiversary!

Hello everybody....I have been anticipating this day with mixed feelings.  I am grateful for the blessing of WLS that has enabled me to lose over 100 pounds in a year, but fearful that I haven't done "good enough" because I'm not a size eight like a lot of people I know.

Before my 2 week preop diet, I weighed 284 pounds.  I now weigh 176, and can wear a size 12.  I was a size 24-26.  I am 5'7" tall.

I go for my one year checkup Thursday.  I had a rough time starting out on this journey, but no regrets!  I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

For those of you starting out, that year will fly by, even though it won't seem like it.  Before you know it, you'll be looking at a different person in the mirror!

For those of you who've gone through this with me or before me, thank you for your continued support and friendship.  I have learned so much from you guys, and wouldn't have made it without you!

And.....I know....I need to post pictures....and I will soon, I promise!  I've had medical problems with an insect or tick bite that has made me feel rotten and merited 2 trips to the doctor in a week, and 2 different antibiotics....So I'm a bit behind!

Thanks for letting me share!

Hi Lisa,

Congratulations on reaching your first 'surgiversary.' I hope that you are more proud of what you have done, than disappointed in what you haven't. To lose more than 100 lbs is an INCREDIBLE and laudable accomplishment in anyone's book. I remember filling out some of the paperwork for my program at Duke and they asked me what would be an 'acceptable size' for me. I said if I reached a size 12/14, I'd be happy. They asked what would be a 'dream' size and I said a 10. To be quite honest single digit sizes never even entered my realm of possibilities.

I would hazard to guess that you are not completely done with your weight loss, but even if you are, you have done a phenominal job and are now modeling for your dear daughter a lifestyle that will hold her in good stead for the rest of her life.

Wishing you continued success and all the best,

Barbara

Congratulations on your surgiversity. Also congrats on your weight loss. I think a size 12 would be great. Hope the insect bite gets better soon. Can't wait to see the pictures. Jackie
It is not the magnitude of our actions but the amount of love that is put into them that matters.
