OT: Need to Vent - instead of EAT

If I were home right now, I'd lace up my shoes and go for a walk. Instead I'm stuck behind a desk for another 90 minutes then a drive home. This past weekend was our weekend to have his kids. Well,  I got a call last week (probably Wednesday) from D's ex letting me know that the kids had head lice and that she had treated them but maybe I needed to wash their sheets in ho****er before they came. I let her know that I appreciated the heads up and I would make sure that it was done (even though we hadn't had the kids in over 2 weeks). So the mere sound of the word lice sent me into a cleaning frenzy. everything was washed, laundered and fumigated (yep - I bought spray and treated the furniture, mattresses, bike helmets, etc) Even things I knew they hadn't used but I didn't want to take any chances.

So we had a good weekend for the kids. No problems. No scratching. No reuse of towels (I did nothing but laundry this weekend it felt like). No sharing hairbrushes - in fact I'd bought new ones for each family member.

So guess who just called me? The ex. Seems as though the kids have lice again. She was fairly nice about it with the exception of  saying "I guess you'll be cleaning a little harder this time." WTF?!?!?!?!?!

Anybody have any working knowledge of this subject. SOmehow I managed to go to public school and have sleepovers every week without ever having a scare. Not to mention raising 2 boys and a housefull of their friends without so much as a single episode. Now I have everyother weekend kids and am struggling with the concept of not being "clean" enough.

And while I'm at it. My stall is killing me. I feel like a failure today. Realistically I'm already a success but will I ever see onderland? Or is this yet another project that I've started only to abandon before completing? OMG!!! I can't get the negative talk outta my head. I was struggling before she called. Oh Joy!!!!!

OK - Hang in there on the lice.  My daughter had it twice (or maybe just once and it wasn't really totally eradicated the first time!?!?!?)  It was horrible to go through with all the extra laundry, cleaning, scratching, itching, etc.  I even got it from her, so believe me I feel your pain.  It sounds like you did everything (and more) that you needed to do.  My guess is that they needed the follow up treatment and maybe it wasn't done in time.  The shampoo/treatment only kills the live bugs; they have to be re-treated later to address any nits that hatch in the meantime - so disgusting to think about, but it is really common and life does eventually go on.  However, I think my head itched for 2 years with phantom lice!

About your stall, you are doing just what you need to be doing by writing down everything.    It sounds like you're on your way and I believe that your scale will probably very soon have mercy on you and show a loss.  Are you really going to go kayakking after dinner?  Wow, would you have imagined this before RNY?  We chatted about this earlier especially about finding the motivation now that life is so great.  It really is a good problem to have.

Hang in there, Iris - I'm not only rooting for you, I'm betting on your continued success as well!

Thanks for the encouragement. Friends of David's have left us their kayak to use and enjoy and I absolutely love it.  I told him I thought it would make an ideal Christmas present for me. OMG what an incredible upper body workout?!?! Who knew?

Hi Iris,

Rhonda is on the money about the lice issue. It's much more likely that it required a 1, 2 or even 1, 2, 3 punch to eradicate the buggers. Don't worry about it.

Re: the stall. Be sure that you are getting enough calories and protien in. You will eventually break into onderland; of that, I'm confident. Just keep working on it.

Oh! And while you are a lot of things, a failure never even comes close to describing you!

Hang in there friend!

Thanks Girls!! I feel better about things this morning - it's amazing what a heart to heart talk and a good night's sleep can accomplish.  I do appreciate all the encouragement that I receive on here.
