WLS with NO insurance!

I was self-pay, but I went to Tijuana to Dr. Ortiz.  I have had no problems and I think he is THE BEST surgeon! 

If you do self pay.  Be sure you AND the doctor's office are very clear on a few points:

Follow-up/fills.  How many are included.  Is it a number of visits, or a number of months?

Complications.  God forbid!!  Is that included, and for how long.  I'm not just talking about something that could go wrong in the ER.  I mean, slips, etc.

Does the initial cost you pay include ALL the pre-op tests?  Psych eval?  Nutritionist?

Does your insurance not pay because it has an exclusion for WLS, or because you don't fit some co-morbidity guidelines?

I hope you find a way to get this done, if it is something you really want.

Well I am self pay because I have no health insurance in general. I am working on trying to sign up for some because I am not offered any through work I need to get my own independant plan. I deffinitly have been taking all questions and comments people have been bringing to me and asking them to the doctors at all the offices Iv been taking to. Thanks for the help!
