Q&A get together
It's been a while since I've seen any of the Q&A's to help us get to know one another on here so I thought I'd post a few. These are all semi-related to the topic of reinventing onesself and it seems that we sometimes struggle with finding out who we really are after WLS. So much about our lives change - some good and some sorta ugly - but we do change (or maybe we "evolve")
At any rate these are intended to make you think (just a little) and help us all get to know one another a little better. I'll post my responses in another pos. Enjoy..................
1. What is one goal you'd like to accomplish during your lifetime?
2. What's the ideal dream job for you?
3. What are your favorite hobbies?
4. If you had to describe yourself in only 3 words, what would they be?
5. If I could be anybody besides myself I would be....

I'd like to take a cross country camping trip. That would include lots of hiking and rafting and just a huge adventure.
2. What's the ideal dream job for you?
I think the job I have now is pretty close to perfect.(Deputy Register of Deeds) I love working with the public but also being able to research through old deeds, birth certificates, marriage license and death certificates. It's a lot of fun to issue marriage license - lots of the folks who come in are on vacation so it's pretty laid back when they come in to get their license.
3. What are your favorite hobbies?
Prior to WLS they were reading, crossword puzzles and jig saw puzzles. Now I rarely do any of those things. Life is much more active now and I enjoy anything that takes me out on the water. David is teaching me to sail. I love to fish. I love, love, love spending time in my garden.
4. If you had to describe yourself in only 3 words, what would they be?
New and Improved
5. If I could be anybody besides myself I would be....

I would really love to get my doctorate one day.
2. What's the ideal dream job for you?
University professor - teaching business (therefore, I need a doctorate)
3. What are your favorite hobbies?
I work full time in public relations and work towards my master's degree part time, so my hobbies are few. I love movies (corny comedies are my favorite). I hope that my new hobby will be daily exercise but I'm not there just yet.
4. If you had to describe yourself in only 3 words, what would they be?
Perfectionist, Organized, Reserved
5. If I could be anybody besides myself I would be....
I wouldn't want to trade lives with anyone, but I'd trade bodies with Catherine Zeta-Jones in a heartbeat.
To purchase and completely redo an old home to bring back its charm.
2. What's the ideal dream job for you?
I would like to host a radio show about health issues and about preventing obesity and other preventable health problems.
3. What are your favorite hobbies?
I love Scrabble, playing with dogs, and I want to get back into backpacking and hiking but its not an activity my DH enjoys.
4. If you had to describe yourself in only 3 words, what would they be?
Colorful, adventerous, friendly
5. If I could be anybody besides myself I would be....
I don't know who I would want to be. I think I just like being me. But there are a lot of successful people that I would not mind emulating.

Scarlet O'Hara or Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Hi Iris,
What a lovely post...
1. What is one goal you'd like to accomplish during your lifetime?
Conquer my depression and the effect it has on my life and those around me. ... That's a close tie with maintaining my weight loss. But, I think that to be honest, my depression probably has had a more significant and negative impact on my quality of life and overall health than my obesity did and as you all know... that is saying a great deal because my obesity was a significant obstruction in my life.
2. What's the ideal dream job for you?
I'm not sure... It's probably not what I used to do... I was a technical writer and a program manager for computer companies. I've been a realtor and a florist. I really like working with people. I think if I knew then, what I know now, I might have become a psychologist, LSCW, a teacher or a midwife..., but back then I didn't think I was 'smart enough.' Is there a theme here... Helper extraordinaire!
3. What are your favorite hobbies?
I like almost anything that is creative. I make jewelry... I love to wear it, so making it was a logical next step. I love to do flower arrangements (hence, the wedding florist thing), I used to stage homes for sale and still love interior design stuff. I like to scrapbook and have enough stuff to open my own store. I like to knit and crochet, if it's a simple pattern. I love, love, love to cook ... and I'm pretty good at it! I like to read when I can concentrate. I used to do stained glass and may try it again... I like both foiled and leaded. I've been trying my hand a upholstery... hard work, but satisfying. I like to sew... I used to make all of my kids Halloween costumes... they never had a store-bought costume.
4. If you had to describe yourself in only 3 words, what would they be?
Caring, Earnest, Worthy
5. If I could be anybody besides myself I would be...
Me, but without my depression. Without my depression, I am able to be the me I want to be... more capable, able, and successful. I can realize the potential of who I am. I want to be me, to be the best me I can be.
