J'ville get together tomorrow at 7pm
I'm looking forward to it! Is that the Applebees that's on the corner. If you're coming in from the north (from New Bern) on HWY 17, it's on the left, correct?
By the way, I don't know if all Applebees are like ours in New Bern, but the last time I was there I tried to special order something to get a low carb option for my side item and they said they never make substitutions for anything. The waitress seemed to indicate that all dinners were pre-packaged and cooked, so no substitions were possible. That didn't sound too appetizing to me and since I couldn't get what I wanted I was not a happy camper. So I ordered the shrimp off the appetizer menu. When it came it was mostly breading and you could tell it had been cooked from frozen. I was not impressed. Maybe someone can recommend some good options from their menu.

Hubby will not be coming to the meet-up tomorrow. He's on his liquid diet and doesn't want to be around all the food. I can understand that. When I last came to the J'ville meet-up I too was on my liquid diet and I brought my Optifast with me. I did fine, but I guess my hubby feels like he can't cope with the smell and sight of all the food. I think not wanting to come to meet-up is a "man thing" too. He doesn't feel the need to seek support or help of any kind, although he's done very little research and still knows precious little about nutirition. When he tries to tell me why he doesn't want to attend any support meetings or participate in the OH forum, the reasons he gives make no sense and he ends up going off on tangents. When I try to tell him something based on our surgeon's instructions, he'll retort with something he heard from a friend at work or something his sister told him. She's a trauma nurse but has no specialty in bariatrics at all. So, I've given up on my husband. He's obviously going to go his own way. Like I said, maybe this is a guy thing, but nothing I say seems to hold any weight for him. I have gotten him to read the book "Life After Gastric By Pass" by Katrina Segrave, but I just discovered he's apparently RE-reading the first part of the book which is a comical narrative of a patient who had open RNY surgery several years ago. I don't know if he's going to get around to reading the portion of the book by Katrina Segrave about nutrition after gastric by-pass.

MEN! HMMMMFFFPT. Not much else to say on that matter. I tried talking my DH about the surgery. He has a bunch of reasons why he won't do it. The main one being he doesn't have time in his job to sip. He needs to drink a bottle of water all at once a few times a day. can you imagine that being the reason not to have surgery? He just doesn't want it. That is a better explanation. He is not ready to give up food and that is how he sees it.
Well I was really looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow but I wont be able to attend after all. I will aim for August... I know you'll all have a great time, remember to take pictures!!!
