I'm 12 days post op walking slowly & calfs/ankles swollen
I'm 12 days post op and I walk very slow. I had my surgery on 6/29 and didn't have much pain at all. I'm doing my exercises and walking-very slow, but my calfs and ankles (especially my left) are swelling. Went to the Dr about it and I don't have any clots or blockages (had really long ultrasound). So I am elevating my legs and that seems to help. I used to be on a diaretic blood preasure pill, but now only on the non diaretic.
Any helpful tips?? Thanks-Andrea

Hi Andrea,
It's great to see you and I'm delighted to hear that you are doing well. I don't have any experience with the swelling your are dealing with, but I'm glad to hear that you are getting such good care from your Dr and I hope to see less of you soon!
Warmly,
Barbara

Some BP meds Norvasc being one that comes to mind are known for causing swelling of ankles and lower extremities. Now that you are not on your diuretic also probably contributing, but thats a catch 22 cause if your not taking in as much you probably need to hang on to it for hydration purposes. One suggestion is getting some TED hose, or support stockings for your legs. That will also help them go down. Good luck to you.
