Butterflies, smiles, daydreams and diet Dr. Pepper....

I haven't been on in a while...major computer issues BUT I'm sitting here with BUTTERFLIES in my stomach, SMILING as I type, DAYDREAMING of skinnier days to come and sipping on my LAST diet DR. PEPPER!!!  ***I GOT A DATE***

my surgery date is 7/20/09!!! I can't believe it!!

my concern is though...how do I tell my 4 year old daughter or how much do I tell her???

Anyway, tomorrow I start my pre-op  'diet'....

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wish I knew what to tell you to tell your daughter - that age can be tricky - they look for immediate results. They can also get a little freaked if you explain that they'll be putting you to sleep for your surgery (especially if your family has ever had to "put a pet to sleep").
Maybe some of the folks who've had that age kids at the time of their surgeries will soon chime in.

I'll figure out what to tell her I'm sure....just don't want her upset. She wasn't a happer camper when I had to do my sleep study!

My kids are 9 and 6 and I didn't tell them until I had a date.  I told them that the doctor was going to help make my tummy smaller so that I won't eat as much so I can lose weight.  My 6 yr ld had lots of questions.  Just be honest without being graphic.  Good luck!!!

Congratulations on getting a date.  I'm a single parent and my daughter was 4 when I had surgery.  I didn't try to explain the RNY at all.  I just told her that granny and papa were coming to stay with us for a visit b/c mommy had to go see the doctor for a few days.  To us, the weight loss is so dramatic but my four year old has never said a word about it.  Best of luck.
