i am soooooooo nervous!  i started my liquid diet, and even though recently i haven't been very hungry, now that i can't eat anything.............i am craving EVERYTHING!!!!  I am not hungry.  the protein drinks are keeping me full.   i did find out today when i took all of my protein drinks out that they shorted me 2 WHOLE CASES  of Optisource at the Pharmacy.  and of course they were closed today for the holiday.  i have to wait until Monday to call them.  I will die if they refuse to give me what they owe me!!!  i cannot afford to purchase more!!!
anyway...........my mind is racing........i work weekend nights, so i am worrying about  what i have to get done before thursday, have i missed something, forgotten something, etc.  the good thing is that i don't have to think about what to eat when i come home.   my doctor has us on nothing but optisource and water for 2 weeks post op.  i can't even have jello or broth..............i would be currious to know how many other doctors out there are so strict post op - anything to share with me??/
i still cannot believe i am doing this!  i have been bombarded this week with negativity.  mostly from my husband.  he thinks i am doing this for "cosmetic" reasons, and that i am taking the "easy way out."  i try to tune him out.  he says he is just worried for me and wants to know in his heart that he has done everything he can to make sure i know what i am getting myself into.  i have assured him that 3 years of research and preparation has me well educated on what i am getting into.  he reminds me of all of the weight i have lost successfully in the past, and i in turn reminded him of all the times i gained that weight right back.............plus more!
anyway, sorry i have rambled.  much on my heart right now!  there may be more of these this weekend...........i am apologizing in advance!
thanks for "listening."

My surgeon was not nearly so strict.  I had to lay off carbs for two weeks before and then 48 hrs before, I was on just liguids.  I know I had one of the easier pre-op diets.  I am not sure why there is such a difference.  My surgery came out just fine and I have lost 114lbs.  I am 6.5 months out.  I had an RNY.  During this time, I hit my goal to be under 200 lbs and have 100 lbs gone by 6 months.  So, I am not sure.
anyway, I wish you luck in getting your cases of stuff and also a speedy recovery.  I am sorry that your husband is not 100 % behind you.  It is probably just worry for your health that is making him that way.  He will see that this is not the easy way out.  Just because the new diet will be "forced" upon you doesn't make it easy.  In fact, I found it easier when deiting normally.  You can eat a lot easier then.  You may be hungry more but that isn't as hard as trying to get in what you need when you can barely eat.  there are all sorts of problems until you get used to stuff.  You can't eat too fast... you get sick.  You can't eat too much.... you get sick.  You can't eat what you could Monday just becauseand now its tuesday  and you get sick.  Nothing makes sense and all of this while you are still healing.  Now that is the bad part.  Good part is that you are losing weight and learning portions.  You are beginning to exercise and take control of your life.  I wish you the best.  You have all of us for support!

Thank you Sandra for your thoughts.  The liquid diet hasn't been tooooo terribly bad, but i do see things and think "gosh, i wish i could just have one bite!"  but i know this is worth it, and i have been seeing results all along since december, so i know how good the prize is.........that keeps me motivated.

thanks again.  you are doing awesome yourself!  keep up the good work!

Dee,

i think if you go in knowing everything about the lap band it is much easier. I had done much research before I did the band.

#1 was that I knew it was going to be awhile before I got to restriciton

#2 was that I knew I would have to be very disciplined with the dietarty guidelines.

#3 was that I had to exercise.

The biggest thing is to know that you may not get to restriction for 6-9 months. You may get stuck for no reason than the band just can't tolerate the dry protien or you may have not chewed enough.

Tamara

I haven't had my WLS yet, hopefully in Sept, but I just wanted to wish you the best of luck with your surgery, your recovery and your weight loss.
Your husband is probably just worried about you. I know mine is. He went with me to the first information meeting and then to a support group but the closer the time comes he keeps asking things like, couldn't I just join weigh****chers? I have done that in the past, did good for awhile then gained that weight back and more as I have with all diets I have been on. He doesn't have a weight problem and does not crave food so he doesn't understand. He loves me as I am sure your husband loves you and they just want us to be safe.
Again good luck and you are in my prayers. Jackie

It is not the magnitude of our actions but the amount of love that is put into them that matters.
