Today I started a two-week vacation to visit relatives, so I'm on the road now.  I have been weighing myself at home at least once a day since surgery, but now I won't be able to weigh every day!!! I just left home this morning and this if my first night in a motel, but I'm already having scale withdrawal!!!!  OMG!!!  Somebody help me!!!    Do you think I could randomly drop into doctors' offices along the way and say, "Can I use your scale?"  Do you think they'd think I was crazy?

Think what a nice surprise you will have when you do weigh again! Remember how they used to have scales in front of stores and such that you put a coin in and got your weight and fortune?
Too bad they're still not around.
Have a nice trip and enjoy yourself. I am sure the weight will still be coming off, even if you can't weigh every day. Jackie

Hi Meredith,

I know what you mean. I find that I actually look for scales now. I would have never thought about it before. You might check to see if the facility you are staying at has a gym... If so, they probably have a scale.

Enjoy your trip!

Cool idea!  I didn't notice if this place has a pool or not.  I was thinking I could probably also go into a store to "try out" their scales.  LOL!

Be careful if you are 'trying out' scales... Remember that many are calibrated slightly differently, so if you see a 5 lb gain or drop it could just be that the scales are different than yours. The ones that are fixed at a health club or Dr's office might still be off some, but not likely as much as those at a store.

Good luck and enjoy your trip.

Good point!  A nurse told me that digital bathroom scales are notorious for being undependable.  You can get on them three times in a row and get three different readings!  I have digital bathroom scales, but they are pretty good.  I always get off and on a few times until I get the same reading.  My scale is very close to my surgeon's scale reading too, so I feel pretty confident in my own home scales.

I was so attatched to my scale at first that I had a friend take it home for a week.  It helped me realize that weighing everyday was not necessary.
