RNY and colds
I am 4 and a half months out. I haven't had to take any kind of otc meds other than vitamins, B12 etc. I have a really bad sore throat and am wondering what to do about it. I've been doing some saline nasal spray but that hasn't helped. In the past I would pop a sudafed as soon as I felt a twinge of a cold coming on. Ay suggestions or do I just wait it out?
Since this morning my ear has started to hurt (I have a history of ear infections). The one response I've received said that I could still take sudafed and could take nyquil. Anyone done this? Scared to take anything without checking with Dr. Chapman but don't think I can go all weekend like this.

I hardly get sick anymore, thank goodness, but when I did get a cold, I was able to take sudafed without a problem and had clearance to do so from my bariatric surgeon's office. I wouldn't just wait it out since you have a history of ear infections. I have also taken nyquil and dayquil and it worked like a charm. I'm not a Dr, but mine said that as long as it doesn't contain nsaids and isn't time released, it would be fine.
I hope you feel better soon.

I am a Tylenol and NyQuil girl for all my aches and pains.
I have been able to continue using both after surgery. I did find I do not need as much NyQuil after surgery. 1/2 the adult dosage works fine. The entire dosage leaves me very groggy.
Hope you are feeling better soon!
If I am gonna eat like a fat girl, then I gotta workout like a skinny girl!
