Finally Another Appt! - Vitamin D?????

Finally! I got the call earlier today to schedule my 'decision visit'. It is my understanding that if that visit goes well, they will submit to my insurance. I am soooo excited! I've been so impatient - and trying to put it out of my mind (which hasn't really worked!).

The nurse also called and said that my Vitamin D levels are low and she called in a prescription for me to take 50,000 units, once per week, for eight weeks. Has anyone else had that experience?

I'm so nervous and excited ---- please pray for me!

Love,
Angela

I took the prescription vitamin D and it did not improve my levels (it is D2) I am taking over the counter D3 5000 per day.  I have not yet had my D checked since I started this D3 but it can't do less than the prescription vitamin D did.  (my levels actually went down a little after I had been on it for 4 months.

And good luck on your appointment and hopefully you will get an approval letter soon

The prescription is D2, which is oil based and not good for RNY since we malabsorb fats to some degree. It is recommended that one takes Dry D3.

You have normal guts, but the dry D3 is still better absorbed. You should be just fine, and Pender has good hands. He did mine w/ no complications. Just beware of the 2 week liquid diet may constipate you and so please take colace along with it. You will be just fine!

Thanks for the info! I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that my D levels are low - I don't really drink much milk and I avoid the sun because I worry about my skin. Hopefully, the prescription will work for me. If not, we'll try something else.
Thanks again!

If your going to do the prescription Vitamin D make sure you have your level checked in another 3 months if it has not gone up I would suggest you talk to your Dr about D3 (I take over the counter D3)
