A weird side effect of WLS

My butt hurts. Actually it's my lack of butt that seems to be giving me the problem. Every chair I sit in hurts. More than 10 minutes driving and even the seat of my van becomes uncomfortable. The bathtub is torture. I never imagined that I'd complain about having a bony rear end but I swear it was not something that I expected.

If this is all I can find to complain about then I think life must be OK. For those of you in the early stages there are somethings that come up after surgery that you wish you'd known about so you'd be a little more prepared. For me it's been the fact that I'm always cold and now the bony butt.

Ok gang - what weird side effects have you discovered.......

I am right there with you on the boney butt.  I can't do crunches or any ab work without three pads.  My trainer said to do more squats to build up the gluts, but I have not noticed a difference yet.

Blessings,
Tami

Hey, Iris!  You are doing so great!  I haven't experienced "bony butt" quite yet, but I do notice when I'm driving that my shoulderblades hurt from rubbing the back of the driver's seat!  Not that I"m complaining.....

Bony butts unite! I'm thinking about carrying around one of those doughnut seats!

I never had "much" of one to begin with..but I know exactly what you mean!  The bleachers at my daughter's softball games are MURDER!  Just the other day, I had a THREE HOUR meeting in a room with UNpadded chairs!  OMG!  I thought I would die.

My wife burst out in laughter just the other day when I was getting in the shower.  I, bewildered, asked her what in the world was so funny.  "You don't have ANY butt left!"  Yeah....real funny babe.  :(

I've had the same two side effects!  I take a seat cushion with me to all our staff meetings at school now.  Those hard school chairs are sooooo painful, esp. when you have to sit there for a whole HOUR through a boring meeting.

And COLD, OMG!  I used to keep my house at 69 degrees and slept under a thin cotton blanket and sheet.  I now keep my house at 74, sleep under three layers, and keep a space heater under my desk at home!

Oh man, let me tell you... I just went thru a little bit of a weight drop.   I swear it all came out of my butt.  Every chair I sit in hurts like crazy.  Never in my life would I have thought I would have a bony a$$.  I actually sat in a chair and placed my hand between my butt and chair and can feel the bone protruding like a knife.  I usually hate those plateaus when the body redistributes your weight 'but' how I am praying for one right now.  If it doesn't get any better, I am heading straight to Walley World to buy me a donut seat.

The dreaded bony butt.  I have one too, not that you would notice when I am standing.  I have been doing butt exercises like squats with weights and other agonizing ones but although DH says I now have buns of steel, it still hurts to sit for any length of time.  I have a desk job with a nice cushy swivel chair.  By the end of the day, it feels like I am sitting on brick.  I want a gel seat like the ones you can put on bicycles.  That would be great.

For me it's weird to be so cold all the time. I use to sweat and get hot all the time..now I'm constantly putting a sweater on.

Bony BUtts, saggy butts, boobs that disappear overnight, flappy arms and umm flappy ... (LOL)between the legs and oh yes the dreaded bony knees.  They wake me up unless I put a pillow between them when I am laying on my side.  I would still rather have all this than walking down the beach feeling like I have a fire starter working between the thighs!  And of course everyone looking at the fat woman.
