Duke patients?

I live on the other end of the state but it looks like Duke may be one of the closest options.  I'm hoping to get the DS procedure and wondering if anyone here has had that done at Duke.

The Duke website does not list it as a procedure they perform, but the DS website lists at Dr Sudan at Duke as a DS surgeon.

This is all quite confusing.

Hi Becky,

DS has just started to be done at Duke. I had my RNY done through them 2 years ago tomorrow and my husband had his done in December. Duke has undergone a number of significant changes/improvements in their program over the past couple of years. One of the changes is that the new department head is Dr. Sudan and he does the DS. He is very well regarded. I have met him on a couple of occasions and have been impressed with his easy and gentle manner.

You might try cross posting this to the DS board and see if you can get any feedback from them.

Wishing you every success in your journey.

Beemer,

I just had RNY at Duke on the 13th of May.  Barbara is right, they have undergone some major transformations in the past couple of months.  My surgery went well and I have had no issues.  I have met Dr. Sudan and he does seem to be a very friendly, intelligent doctor.  Also, Duke is a Center of Excellence.

Good luck!
