blueberry season is here!!!
Just as I'm enjoying the luscious flavor of fresh grown local strawberries, today I discovered at my local produce market that the local blueberries are now coming out!! I am really loving the fresh fruit in my Greek yogurt! Last night I actually got my husband to try a bowl of Greek yogurt with strawberries and he devoured it! I'm training him for his own RNY.

Food Lion has it. Harris Teeter has it too. The brand I usually buy is "Fage." Greek style yogurt is simply strained yogurt. The extra water has been strained out of it, leaving a very rich, creamy protein-packed yogurt.

You should come down to the annual Blueberry Festival in Burgaw on June 20! Blueberries up the ying-yang!
I used to buy my Greek yogurt at WalMart (Oikos brand) and I thought it was better than Fage, and it was a lot cheaper, but my local WalMart has stopped stocking it, much to my dismay! Maybe we should send a petition to them!

The Blueberry Festival sounds wonderful, but I'm guessing most of the recipes people will be using will be loaded with sugar. So sad. I looked for Greek yogurt at Wally World a few days ago and couldn't find any at all. I wonder if some WalMarts have it and some don't. I remember buying it at WalMart before though!

Isn't it wonderful? I love sprinkling a bit of granola in mine too. Nummy!
Tamara told me the other day that our NUT told her about a recipe that a local restaurant is serving: a low carb tortilla with a bit of peanut butter, some yogurt, a sprinkle of granola and fruit wrapped up. The kids and I had it for breakfast on Sunday. 3 of us agreed we preferred the granola, yogurt, and fruit without the wrap and peanut butter part, but lil' man LOVED the wrap and PB.
Isn't it the coolest thing that your RNY can help your family to eat healthier?! :)
