Question for NC people HELP
I have BCBSNC Blue Options through an employer (which is my husband because he owns the company) and my question is.... since I have only had this ins. for a couple of months will they throw the pre-existing condition at me? I was told by someone that my employer may exclude this but I checked and it is not. I did not pursue wls until the last few weeks so nothing should be documented prior to the effective date of my ins. However I RA and was sent a letter that I would have a 6 month waiting period on that. Please respond I am concerned and would like to know if anyone could enlighten the situation.
I have worked in insurance for years and here is my understanding. IF you had a lapse of insurance more than 61 days your insurance in North Carolina has the right to not cover something because it was pre existing. If you didn't have a lapse of insurance and just changed companies they can't put the pre existing on your after the fact. They can during the sign up process put a rider on you. You will have to be careful on the pre-existing condition because if you try to get approved and they deny it for pre existing then you will have to wait a year. Maybe someone else here can chime in on this also because my experience isn't with WLS. The only experience I have with WLS and insurance is my own. Good Luck!
I'm afraid that I can't answer your question, but I would suggest that you cross-post this question to the main, RNY and Insurance forums. Sometimes casting a wider net will get you more answers.
Wishing you all the best,
