Fluid count?

Okay, I need advice.  I was told early on not to count the liquid in my protein shake as part of my fluid intake for the day.  Is that correct?  The reason I ask is, I've been struggling to eat since I started working out at the gym.  So I decided to add a scoop of protein powder to my water bottle twice a day.  If I do that, do I have to drink extra water?

Thanks,
Deb

Hi Deb,

I would check with your program. I had my surgery through Duke, as did my husband and according to them, the fluid in your protien drinks do count. That said, each program varies a great deal on their nutritional guidelines, so I'd give 'em a call and double check.

My program in Asheville says that protein shakes do count as your liquids.  Like everyone else said, check with your program.

I completely understand about not wanting to eat anything (I'm still very limited anyway) since working out.
