Weight Loss "Side effects"

I have heard a few things from others who have had WLS.

1) your shoe size will decrease

2) you will have to have reconstructive surgery for skin (I was hoping to get away with exercise) because after two kids a two piece is forever out of the question...

3) you will throw up

So can you all confirm, deny or add to the list =)

1. Mine did so this is true for me anyway by about a size and a half. They are also only a d width now as opposed to the EEE I used to squease into LOL!

2. No one has to have reconstructive surgery after losing the weight but you can choose to have it if you want to and can afford it. Most insurance won't pay for it and consider it cosmetic though they will sometimes allow for pannis removal which is not the tummy tuck that has more natural looking results.

3. Throwing up can happen to some but so far I never have. You don't have to lose a lot of weight to need to throw up anyway. Illness can have that as a side effect as well. I do think the shape of our new stomach my effect some that way though.

Thanks. I was looking to buy some shoes but now I think I will wait.  And I am not a big fan of throwing up so I will be particually careful to avoid that...

Thanks again!

LOL you're so cute!

1) My flip flops are getting too loose!!

2) You are still young enough that you may be just fine. It really depends on your age,
how much weight you lose, etc. I was very obessesed about that before surgery but
now I'm like, well so what if I have saggy skin. I'll just wear the spanx and hope that
     will camoflage it lol

3) I have the VSG and have not thrown up one time. I haven't even felt like throwing up.
I have followed the diet plan to the T.  Eating only what I'm supposed to and not
eating more than I'm supposed to.

#4 is a great side effect.
I was thinking if I follow the diet then I shouldn't have trouble with throwing up.  That really doesn't sound pleasant.  I already love my spanx.  I wish they made a head to toe body suit.. =)

Ok here goes (I am 3 yrs out)...

1) Went from a 12 to a 10

2) Got a little hanging skin but nothing that makes me want to have another surgery. No one cuts on me again unless my limb is hanging off or I am unconscious and cannot tell you to GET AWAY FROM ME WITH THAT SCALPEL!   WLS was my first surgery ever and first overnight stay at the hospital - no complications or horror stories but just not looking to volunteer to do it again.

3) Never have

4) Remember the basics and follow them...WLS is a tool that can help you successfully lose weight and maintain it. It is what you make of it!

Wishing you the best on your journey!

So I guess the shoe size thing is real.. Good..

I am glad to hear it... I have had several surgeries.  (appendix, 2 c-sections) But I really don't have "plastic surgery" money. I barely have enough for this one.

I am glad to hear others that don't throw up.  Some people here at work do it on a regular basis.. but then again they eat the meatloaf from the cafe down stairs

I'm only 3 and 1/2 months out and I've lost 60 lbs.

1)  I haven't had any problems with shoe sizes yet.  May before it's over with.

2)  I do have some hanging skin - arms are starting to wave when my hand does and my belly.  I think the belly thing comes more from having two kids.  I think there are some really good shapers out there to help with this.

3)  I have thrown up but only from getting food stuck - not from getting sick for any reason.  Someone told me the throwing up gets easier but I don't agree.  I'm not one who has ever enjoyed throwing up (like anyone does) but it's not any easier at all!

Good luck with your inquiry.

Yes my shoe size went down but it was too big anyway , size 16 and it hasnt gone down a lot , I still wear same shoes. I have lost 88 pounds and I see skin is loose on legs but I don't think it will ever bother me.

I do throw up when I dont eat like I am suposed to. Its a good way to remember to eat right

Also my taste changed a lot. I get so sick of things I loved to eat before
