Sad news

Last night we were enjoying the hot tub.
I got out and got dressed with Birdy in tow as always.
I went outside on the deck and Birdy flew off my shoulder.
It was getting dark at this point and he hates the dark.
We looked and looked called and called but no Birdy.
This morning I have been up before daydreak looking and calling.
We have even put his cage on the back deck in hopes he will return.
My heart is breaking I feel so helpless right now.

Oh Annie, I hope you find him!

We have (8) birds (****atiels) and they do not like the dark either.

Keep calling for him. He knows your voice and hopefully it will guide him home soon!

Putting the cage outside was the right thing to do. I owned pet stores for 10 years and we specialized in birds and ran into this a lot. A lot of time after a few days the bird would return. I have a red head amazon

We hand fed babies and I know how attached you can get to pet birds

Jus****ch the area around your home and I bet you will spot him

Thxs Nighthawk,
Birdy is a very smart bird and he grew very attached to me as I did to him.
Birdy always would stay on me or near me all the time.
I know if I could hear him I could go find him and he would fly to me.
I posted on craigslist and on the community board where I live.
I am so worried about the winds we have had and cooler tempatures.
I dont even want to eat any crackers because Birdy would always be the first to get a little nibble.

Oh Annie, I am so sorry this happened to you.  I know this was something you feared.  I had the same thing happen to me and I know your pain and terrors right now.  My heart goes out to you.

Thxs Suzanne,
It is agonizing to have lost him but I am trying to stay positive.

Annie,
I hope with all my heart your Birdie comes back. His cage will give him a lot of comfort when he sees it and he will come right to it I am sure. So I hope he sees it very soon.

Thxs Ann,
I have been looking all day and calling for him.
Debbi came by earlier and it was nice to see her.
Been very sad all day and hoping I will hear him.

Annie

I too know how you feel.  I walked outside one day with my bird on my shoulder, completely not thinking about him being there and the dog jumped up and off he went.  He came back two days later.  I put his cage out front on the porch and woke up one morning and heard him whistling his trusty Andy Griffith song.

He'll find his way home!
