Hi Kelly! I hope you hear something very soon! It only took BCBS of MA 4 days to tell me I was APPROVED!

I have never been to any of the Rex support group meetings but that is where I'm having my surgery. Does Dr E host it? Is it open to everyone?

Four days would be nice... I think my stomach will be in knots until I have some kind of answer.  I hope I hear the same news!  It's been an emotional rollercoaster so far with all the testing and not knowing.

Welcome to Raleigh!  I am seeing Dr Enoch as well.  My surgery is sched for July 29th.  I can't wait.  I am having mine at Wake Med Cary as well.  I work there so I can tell you it is a great hospital.  You will be cared for well. 

I have not been to his support group meeting yet.  I am sure you will get you approval before you know it.

Thanks.  I hope to have my surgery in June.  They submitted my package on Monday so I hope I hear something by the weekend. 

That is great you work at western wake. I had my last baby there and loved it.  I also had a surgery there i***** but I don't remember much about it then.

Hi Kelly - I'm also having my surgery with Dr. Enochs as soon as I get insurance approval (fingers and toes crossed).  I was told by the office Monday that they were submitting to insurance, probably Tuesday as they have all the info now - I have United Health Care, and I'm completely nervous that they'll deny, but I'm hoping not - if they do though, I have my appeal letter already in the works LOL

I'm REALLY hoping, like you, they approve quickly as I've heard some say above.  I had thought about VSG, but have opted for RNY for various reasons, and I hope that makes it easier.

Sounds like we're running neck and neck :)  I hope we both hear soon!  I"m having my surgery at Wake Med in Cary - they did my pre-op stuff already, and I was very impressed - I hope I'm as impressed with the hospital stay.  I just liked the idea that it's a bit smaller and hopefully less chaotic.

Wow.. we may be having surgery together.  I called BCBS yesterday and they told me my package arrived 5/18 and they have 3 days to review it.  So I will probably know today or tomorrow.  I am so nervous.  We'll keep our fingers crossed!!  I hope we both get our approvals soon.

I opted for RNY over the lap band because I was afraid the way I eat I wouldn't get the results I want with the Lap Band.  I have looked at all BCBS's approval policies and I qualify.  I am not sure how the approvals work.  I do know some people who work with me knew in 3 days so I am a mess today =)

I am also having my surgery at wake med cary and did my pre-op last Thursday.  They were very nice.  I also had my last child there and was very pleased.   They definitly seem less chaotic, especially compaired to Duke where I had my first.

Hmmm, perhaps I should stop trying to get Dr. Enoch's office to call me back about when they sent my claim, and just call my insurance company to see that they received it.  I have a feeling I'll at least have to get through this weekend without knowing anything, but I'm sure hoping I hear early in the next week.

I chose RNY for many reasons; mainly that it just fits what I need as far as a tool. 

It would be cool if we had our surgeries at the same time - and I hope it's SOON! :)

Definitly call the insurance company!  You can hassel them all you want
