I have been off the boards for a while, so I am out of the loop, but I just read an artcile in Charlotte Weekly about how Dr. Pirello now runs the bariatric program at Presbyterian hospital.  Does anybody know when he left Dr. Bauman's practice and/or the cir****tances?

Dr. B did my lap RNY in 2005 and then Dr. P did an emergency hernia repair/bowel untnangle in 2007.  I thought both were excellent.

Dr. Pirrello is at Presby, and Dr. Bauman remains at CMC-NE.  Dr. Pirrello is on his own now.  He left right around the first of the year this year.  His patients received letters letting them know ahead of time that he was leaving and that they were welcome to follow him to his new practice or remain with Carolina Weight Loss Surgery with Dr. Bauman.  I think the majority of his patients followed him (my sister included).

I am a patient of Dr. Bauman and stayed put, of course.  Had I been a patient of Dr. Pirrello's, I would have followed him in a heartbeat.  I love them both.  Dr. Pirrello has a wonderful bedside manner.  Dr. Bauman isn't quite as friendly, but he knows his stuff and that's what I wanted in a surgeon.  I only chose him over Dr. Pirrello because I knew more of his history than I did of Dr. Pirrello at the time.

They are both fantastic surgeons.

I followed Jon to his new practice at Presby Matthews.  The why, as I understand it, is a normal growth step.  Jon was ready to have his own practice, it was time.

I had my two year follow up with him last Thursday.  The office is right there in the hospital, which is awesome.  The facility is beautiful, and of course, the staff rocks!!!!

I'm thrilled that he is closer, and it appears to be a great thing for him.  He is even more easy to talk with than before, and I *think* he is able to offer options that weren't available when he was at CWLS.  His practice is listed as bariatric and general surgery, which is an awesome thing.

If you're thinking about surgery, make sure to contact him!
