Exercise? What do you do? How long do you do it?
I have decided that tomorrow I will go ahead and join the gym and get my body ready for the upcoming exercise I am going to have to put it through. There is only one gym here in my town and a really great lady owns it. I plan to get up early in the morning and go talk to her so she can get me started on a weight loosing, and toning regimen. I really can't wait. It will get me out of the house for a few house and get me on my way to what I'll really need to focus on after the surgery. I have also thought alot about doing water aerobics at our rec center.
I was just wondering what you guys choose as your exercises of choice, what works and what doesn't etc??
Also I would like to know if I should go ahead and cut out the carbonated sodas and start my crystal light and water???
Thanks!
I just started back up this week, i had a kidney stone, that needed to pass, and one day at the gym i was doing circut training and passed out. so my trainer said take a few weeks off due to working to hard.. so now i am back at it, this week all i have done is walk run on the tread mill...
As soon as i got my surgery date i kissed all soda's good by.. I got very into drinking only water, and sometimes juice.. I can not stand crystal light makes me want to hurl so i do a lot of water, some days i'll order me a unsweet tea and that takes me all day to drink it... The "fake" sugars or sugar substues make me ill now after surgery... i get major head aches.. its a i guess a form of dumping who knows..
Good luck with working out, start out slow and steady don't want to burn yourself out.. as long as your moving your going to be loosing is what i was told...
Also start testing proteins, get samples of them, that way when you get to your pre op diet its not so hard to just do protein drinks...
take care

Ok but the main thing I wanted to say is, YES try and stop the carbonated drinks. The sooner the better. TRUST ME! Also after you have the surgery, if you are anything like me, if you drink something with caffeine in it like tea, you will bounce off the walls. At least that is what happened to me the other day. I stopped at bojangles and got me some unsweetened tea. I added some splenda to it. YUMMY! Anyways, OMGoodness, after a few sips, I was bouncing off the walls. It was kind of funny though lol. I had my mother in law and father in law laughing there butts off :). If you can start just drinking water and crystal light or any decaffinated drinks, it would really help you.
K well I hope this helps and don't be astranger. Call me sometime or text me. I changed my cell number so if you need it just send me a PM and let me know. Take care girl!!

I started working out and stopped drinking sodas or caffeinated drinks 4 months before my surgery and lost 40 pounds before my surgery. Believe me it will help. Just getting up and walking will make you feel better. That's how I started out since I hadn't done any exercise in years. Each week as I was walking I felt better and had more energy. I started walking longer and farther everyday. Then I joined a gym and had a trainer design a program that works for me. I recommend getting one at least once to show you how to use all of the equipment properly. Water aerobics would be great. There's not a rec center with a program where I am or I would be there.
Just making the decision to start exercising and cutting out most of the sugar and caffeine will make a huge difference. It might make you feel like crap for a couple of weeks cause caffeine is a drug and might give you headaches from withdrawal but it is worth it afterwards because you WILL lose weight if you cut it out of your diet.
Good luck and look forward to seeing you on the Loser's Bench!
