weiners
I am preop. Just curious can you tolerate hot dogs without the bun in the early days. I mean once you get off the liquids. I mean the weiners. This preoper loves me some weinees...how about chili. I know the fat may be an issue. Just curious!

I can and could easily tolerate hotdogs but they can't be high in fat or they will make me sick. I don't even like the taste of fatty dogs now. Chili is some of the easiest food there is for me to eat. Especially chili with beans. I was about 3 months out and I loved Wendy's chili. It was the only fast food I could eat. It still is about the only thing in the fast food catagory that I eat.
So, if you are anything like me I guess this is good news.
I get the Nathans 97% fat free hot dogs. I even use whole wheat buns! Pre-op I would eat at least 2..... 1 fills me up just fine now. The hot dogs are a little smaller than the fatty ones but I have had no problem!!! I too love hot dogs! And Chile with beans works great. I prefer my home made, but in a pinch, its hard to be the Wendy's small for 99 cents! (actually here in Raleigh I think its 1.19)
I think I waited a couple of months before I tried some nitrate-free organic hotdogs that my family had bought. At 4 months out, I had a hotdog with the bun at a softball game...I just sort of ate it like a banana, peeling the bun back as I ate the dog! lol Now I am sooo loving me some Smart Dogs with either Hormel vegetarian chili or Bush's vegetarian baked beans. Beanie Weanies! Nummy! For sure try to eat healthy versions while chewing really well and I'm sure you'll be just fine. :)
I eat chili well. In fact, I would have starved to death in the beginning stages if I had not been able to eat Wendy's chili. :) However, hot dogs are still iffy for me and I am almost 2 years out. Some days I eat them and am okay.. others I get sick off of them. I would certainly not push the issue and try to eat them too soon. :)
