am I a freak of nature?

Catchy title eh?  Seriously though I've been wondering if I'm crazy or just lucky.  I had  my surgery one week ago and returned to work today.  I had a few periods where I was really eyelid-sagging tired, but once I had some protein, I felt fine.  Trust me, I'm not bragging, I'm a little "worried" that I may crash and burn in the near future and this is all a fluke.  I've worked hard at following orders on eating and walking, and maybe that's it.

I realize that all people are in different pre-surgery scenarios and have different health conditions, but has anyone else felt this good so soon after surgery?  Should I expect a pitfall anytime soon?  I see my surgeon tomorrow for my 1 wk post-op, so I plan to ask him too.  My regular dr. seems to think everything's fine.

Hi Michelle,

You are not crazy, just incredibly lucky. It's really amazing just how differently everyone recovers from the surgery. Some are like you and breeze through relatively easily and some really struggle during the first few days, weeks and sometimes months, but I really have never met someone who was truly sorry that they did this when all was said and done.

Wishing you continued success and you move forward on your journey.

Michelle,

I was just like you and I am a year out.  I have had more energy than I could handle since day 1.  It is awesome to feel that way.  It worried me too, but I have not crashed yet. I hopefully never will.  I keep my protein up and energy keeps going.  I hope that helps.

I felt great too.  I was back to work in 8 days.  I thought that maybe the surgeon did something wrong since I felt so good.  I thought that maybe it wasn't going to work.  Silly.  I have had a few bumps in the road (getting food stuck when I ate too fast) but I still feel great.  My test results are good and knock on wood, no hair loss.  Count yourself lucky and enjoy.

Sandy,

That's awesome to hear!  I love the part about no hair loss!!!  I've been through that once due to chemo, and while it was no fun, it was better than the alternative!

Good to know that I'm not the only one who thought the surgeon didn't actually do anything...LOL  I've had the same thoughts!!!!!!!!!!!

You are too funny. Glad you are doing good. Can't believe you returned to work today. I was out 8 days with Lap Band but most of that was due to I had to see dr before I could be released and go back to work.

Don't over do it!!!!! I can see you doing that. Glad you are doing so good.
