I see their billboards all the time when I take my daughter to preschool, heh.
Any opinions? They're kind of new it seems, which makes me nervous. But goodness it would be better to drive to Rocky Mount than into Raleigh.

I had weightloss surgery at Nash 3 yrs ago. Who is the Dr. that performs the surgery now? It was Dr. Malik but I heard he stopped performing the surgery shortly after mine.

This is from their website:

Dr. Wade Naziri

Dr. Naziri received his medical degree from the University of Virginia and completed his general surgery residency at Tulane University School of Medicine. He received fellowship training in laparoscopic surgery under one of the leaders in the field, Professor Alfred Cushieri.

Dr. Chris Mann

Dr. Mann graduated from the University of Heidelberg Medical School in Germany, and completed his final year of medical school at Duke University Medical Center. He also completed extensive fellowship training in laparoscopic surgery with Dr. Felicien Steichen in White Plains, New York.

Dr. Kenneth MacDonald

Dr. MacDonald spent more than 19 years at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University as professor of surgery and chief of gastrointestinal surgery and surgical endoscopy. In 2006, MacDonald was chosen as one of the “Best Doctors" in America by a survey of more than 30,000 physicians from across the United States.

I am going through the program at Nash right now. I think it is a good program. Very informative, very thorough. Of course I don't have anything to compare it to since it's the only program I have been in. The program is run by a physicians's assistant. She and the secretary organize everything, your consult appts, endoscopy, etc. You meet your surgeon when you have your endoscopy.
The best thing to do is go to one of their free seminars. You will learn about the program and more about WLS.
If you decide to procede then there is a three hour class, that costs $200,which I thought was kind of expensive but you see the physician's assistant, get a check up from her and learn more about the procedures and what you will be doing.
I would suggest going to the free seminar, you can asks lots of questions, too.
Good luck in whatever you decide. Jackie

The surgeon is all of the 3 that were mentioned before.  I had my surgery at Nash with Dr. Mann in January.  These surgeons are with Southern Surgical  out of Greenville and they also do surgery at Nash.  If you have any more questions, let me know.

I had my surgery on September 4th 2008...with Nash Surgical weight loss center. Dr. Naziri is the one that operates there. He is a very good Dr. and I would recommend him and the hospital to anyone.

Had my surgery on Sept 18, 2008, with Dr. MacDonald.  I had planned to have it at Nash but was actually had it at Pitt Memorial in Greenville since mine was an open revision and more likely to be problematic.  The surgery went very well, I had no problems, and I really like Dr. MacDonald a lot.  He is a very good doctor and very supportive in both the surgery and pre- and post- care.  I still go to Nash (where I had all the preliminary tests and work-ups for the surgery) for the support meetings (the first Monday night of each month) and find Shannon (the PA) to be both knowledgeable and supportive.  I have no reservation in recommending the hospital, the support, or my doctor.  Janice
