hey guys:

had surgery on May 4th, got discharged the afternoon of May 5th.

been doing pretty good, the liquid diet leaves much to be desired, haha, but oh well.

pain is almost completely gone, i'm sleeping fine, and haven't had anything come back up that i've tried!

i'm craving something more substantial than just chicken broth though :( any ideas?

Wow, release the next day sound good to me, I have been told I will be in the hospital 2 to 3 days.

I went to see my NUT on Wed for my diet and know it is just clear liquids.  She suggested some other ideas as Protein water, broth, SF jello, SF popsicles.

Glad to hear your doing good, great news I hope it continues

anything clear is good so try some Crystal Light .  I love the Sunrise Orange flavor but that isn't clear.  It does taste like Tang and is delicious.  I also loved s/f popsicles  and  almost lived off of them.

Hey Evan,

Congratulations and welcome to the loser's bench sweetie! Instead of just drinking chicken or beef broth plain, go ahead and season them... If you saute some onion, garlic and ginger, then add the chicken broth... you might even try adding a dash of low sodium soy, and some green onion... Then strain. It will probably taste a lot like something from your fav chinese restaurant. If you do something similar, but take onions, garlic, carrots, and brown them in some of the broth, then add a bit of worchestershire, and strain, it will taste something like beef soup broth... you know, that great stuff you like to slurp when mom makes soup? ;-). If you can have tomatoe soup, you can look for a low sugar tomotoe soup, you can saute the onions and garlic for that to add more flavor, then add a couple of basil leaves for flavor... again, strain it all until you are allowed to advance in your diet. I often do this with milk, making a cream of tomato soup,or will do it with beef broth to make it more like an italian based soup... Think in terms of clear soups... then just strain out the other 'stuff' ... chicken noodle soup, vegitable beef broth soup, french onion soup, wonton soup, etc...

I hope that helps and look forward to seeing much less of you later this summer.

Hey! Glad to hear you are well. There is nothing substantial you can eat now.  Face it! I went to Yamato's (a japanese restaurant) and got big cups of their soup.  I could not eat the sliver of onion or the slice of mushroom but the broth  was divine. Sugar free popsicles rock too. Just try and forget about food and sip, sip, sip.
