Very discouraged...can't work out!!!
I just had to share my discouragement today. I haven't been able to work out in almost 2 weeks now. My knees are really hurting and I just can't figure out why. I'm pretty sure it's from running for the new C25k training program. I did the week 1 day 1 workout alternating running and walking. I've always had problems with my knees ever since junior high but this is just ridiculous. I am very frustrated...
Then to top it all off my gym that I joined has closed it's doors!!!!! What else? Oh yeah since I haven't been able to workout (can't even walk hardly) I haven't been expending very much energy so I haven't been able to sleep for 2 days. I'm exhausted mentally but just can't get comfortable enough to fall asleep.
I would go to the doctor but since being laid off in January I don't have insurance anymore. I'm so scared that I'm going to slip back into my old ways and not get the exercise and start gaining weight instead of losing. I don't mean to sound like a whiney-baby but I'm just frustrated and wanted to share it in case anyone else out there is having similar problems. Maybe we can all get our "whine" on and get over it.
Ok thanks for letting me vent!!! Tomorrow I'm getting up and cleaning the house like a whirlwind to try and burn some energy and maybe with a spotless house I will feel better. I'm gonna call my sister and see if she will bring me her Ab Lounge so that at least I can get a little bit of exercise. Just can't get down on the floor to do sit-ups cause I'm scared I won't be able to get back up because of my knees.
Oh yeah, I was going to stop whining...ok thanks for listening.

Hey Gidget!
Whine on! We're listening and understand!
Sorry that your knees are giving you some trouble. You mentioned trying a different exercise routine today, so maybe that will help. Maybe the jogging is a bit to hard on your knees at the moment, but it could get better over time and you can try again. For now, look for some other exercises that are less impacting.
I am finding my right knee likes to send me a reminder during the couch25k workout so sometimes I have to slow the speed down, much to my dismay . I thought about wrapping that knee for support. Not sure if that suggestion would help you ???
Looks like you recognize you need to exercise so that vigilance will help you stay on track. Sorry about the gym. I saw a story on the news last night about Peak Fitness closing. Hopefully you can find another one to fit your needs.
I am coming straight from the couch so I do not have any great workout ideas but sure will listen!
If I am gonna eat like a fat girl, then I gotta workout like a skinny girl!

Hi Gidget,
You might try getting a couple of dance dvd's that are 'low impact' that you can use to burn off some calories and stay active. You might also crank up the CD/Radio when you are cleaning house and bop to the beat as you vacume, dust, etc... If you haven't tried something like 'Core Rhthyms' or a belly dancing DVD you'll be surprised at how much fun they can be while you tone that tummy, tush, legs, etc... and get a good cario workout.
I hope that helps some,
Barbara

Maybe you could find a pool somewhere? Getting in the water is great for exercising when you have knee problems.
Good luck and I sure hope things get better for you soon!
