OT: To color, or not, help me decide!

Why I went gray in the first place:
1.  Toxic chemicals.  I am PARANOID about toxic chemicals!
2.  Gray-headed women are embracing their natural beauty...they seem powerful, wise, natural...and I wanted a piece of that.
3.  Before RNY, when I went gray, I had settled on being obese and semi-crippled.  I wanted the gray hair so nice young men would hold doors open for me instead of walk on through and skinny young girls would smile at me instead of sneer.  This is exactly what happens now.  lol

Why I want to color again:
1.  The weight-loss is helping me feel like I'm turning back the hands of time but the image in the mirror isn't matching how I am feeling.

I am getting mixed messages from local friends about whether I should color again.  Some give me a resounding YES, and some give me a resounding NO!  It is sooo confusing!

I've bought the color and, if I do it, I am going to color tomorrow because I have a hair cut appointment on Saturday morning.  With our financial situation right now, I have to color at home and I know the only color that ever worked on me is a toxic, permanant color.  I always had dark hair, light blue eyes, and fair skin, which was a striking combination.  I just hope that if I go dark again, that it wouldn't age me instead of make me look younger because I know that dark hair does define lines/wrinkles.

Discussion, advice, input, HELP!!!  Thanks!!!

Hey Shauna,
The way I look at hair color is totally a personal preference. I have alot of gray and started seeing it when i was like 16yrs old. I have colored my hair for a long time. I have tried to go natural but always felt better colored. Do what makes you feel good.

What do you do when you don't know what makes you feel good?    Trying to turn it to doing what makes me look the best, but I don't know that either!

I say do it!!!!! It is all about personal preference, but if you feel you need a change I say go for it! The hair cut is what will really bring the color out anyway. Good luck!!!

Part of me wonders if I shouldn't wait until AFTER I get my hair cut on Saturday?  I am so overdue for the cut.  Maybe that would help make the decision easier?

MMMM that is a good question. I know when my friend does my hair, she colors first then cuts. I never thought to ask her why she does it in that order. lol

I stopped coloring my hair to have surgery. I was told it wouild be healthier for my hair.  I am 5 months out and using Nioxin products and taking biotin 3X a day.  As soon as it stops falling out and starts to grow back , L'Oreal and I are getting together again.  I Feel so much better with color on my grey hair  when I look in the mirror. Its about how I feel and how I look at me,  not anyone else. When I look at your pic I see a beautiful woman with beautiful hair. If you color your hair I will see the same thing. Do what you want to do for you.
I hope this lands in your "Discussion" category.

YES, Deb, perfect, thank you!  lol  I had been telling myself to wait until I had lost at least 100 pounds before even considering coloring again, but I thought I'd be closer to -100 by 6 months out.  (What was I thinking?!)  "How I feel and how I look at me."  That's what I'm struggling with right now.
