NEW HERE w/ a question
I've lost a total of 49 lbs at this point, and I'm THRILLED.
I have an EXCELLENT surgeon & their team is great; however, there is one issue about which I'm curious.
I still have pain in my left side. I was told that this was common; however, they still wanted to see me to check this issue (2 1/2 weeks ago.) The PA told me that it was common & that she has people who still have that pain for 6 months after surgery. This is a STABBING pain which prevents me from exercising (anymore than walking for 5 minutes, etc.) and I still have to sleep on my Recliner because I can't lay flat in any way without extreme pain.
One of the on-call nurses is concerned because she said that the pain shouldn't be that severe at this point; however, I've now seen the PA twice now & she says that it's nothing to worry about.
SOOOO, I don't know what to do. I'd actually like to start exercising; however, leaning over in any way makes the rush of a stabbing pain hit.
I'M NOT ASKING FOR MEDICAL ADVICE. I understand that no one here on the board can give medical advice. I just wanted to see if anyone had had a similar experience with the pain in their left side.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
I had Lap Band at Hickory in January. Jock and Becky have been great and Becky has been a wonderful advocate for me. I had to have my gallbladder removed on 4/20. Becky was great at helping me with this.

Hi Tamara. Thank you for your response. It's probably time for that. Actually, it was Becky that was concerned about the pain. She told me last week that she didn't think it should be hurting that much at this point. A dull ache maybe, but not outright pain.
I just love Jock & Becky. So good at their jobs!!! And so caring!
But I called the office again as Becky requested that I do after I had already been seen once for the issue, and the PA basically told me still nothing to worry about. I am supposed to have my 6 week post-op check up next week, so I'll definitely bring it up to them again.
I'm tired of being on Pain Meds at this point. So frustrating.
And, I'd really like to start exercising!! (Something I NEVER thought I'd say! lol. But I SUDDENLY have all of this extra ENERGY which is GREAT! lol.)
I think that you make a good point in suggesting that I specifically ask for Dr. Cook. Thanks again for your help, and best of luck in your continued weight loss!
