Hitting close to home OT Swine Flu
UGH....We got a phone call yesterday from my sons elementary school (Arthur W. Edwards Elementary) and they are closing for 7 days due to a propable case of Swine Flu :(
This is the ONLY school in the state of North Carolina that is closed right now...I guess you never think it can happen this close to home, but it has here in Craven County
There are also 4 cases of it here on base at Cherry Point all Marines from the same squadron, evidently one Marine got it from traveling from New York and he has passed it on to 3 others, one of which is the father of the child at the elementary school..and they are now considering closing the base Day Care (which my daughter goes to pre-school 2 times a week)
THIS IS CRAZY, I have errands to run tomorrow, and i don't even want to go in public, one, because i Have to drag my kids along and 2- I am pregnant and sure as heck don't want to be dealing with the flu...BLAH!!!! I am sure the media has made much more hype than what it's worth, but I tell ya, they got my attention and to close a school for SEVEN days is CRAZY especially when it is a year round school and they only have 5 weeks off in the summer :( Oh well, what do ya do, except for live your life in a bubble...LOL
Hope everyone is well ~ JAMI

Hey GIrl I haven't seen you in a while. Do you have any new pictures? I know your doing great. I have a question though...How has your weight loss effected your lossing weight now that your pregnant? Now I am back up 6 pounds from my lowest and I'm not pregnant...just eating like I am LOL. I've got to get back on the wagon. You don't hear much about what they expect when your pregnant. See it would scare the s..t out of me cause I gain so much each time I was pregnant. These 6 pounds have really depressed me. I know though having a precious bundle of joy is a great trade off. It seem though now this far out its so hard to take off just the few pounds I have gained.
Beginning weight: 284
Surgery weight: 251
Current weight: 149
I saw this all on the local news here last night, Jami. Our 16yo daughter was sick Sunday and stayed home from school yesterday...don't think I haven't been on pins and needles, watching her like a hawk. She never got a high fever and went back to school this morning. I think there is probably more hype than needs to be, but Paranoia is my middle name, soooooo... lol Take good care of yourselves and try to lay low as much as you can for now.
Just to ease your mind, my son has Leukemia and I just asked his doctor Tuesday when we were there getting chemo if I needed to be concerned about the swine flu. He said that it was actually not as hard on a persons body as normal flu is. That even though there isn't a vaccine for it, most healthy people could fight it off with no problems.
On a side note, my family and I were stationed at Lejeune for 10 years! Gosh I miss it!
