hair dye

 Ok, so since i started to shed my hair, yes i will call it shedding, i have noticed my color jobs don't last as long as they used too. Is this because it is thinning, or weaker?
I just  colored it about two weeks ago, and it has really lighten up... So didn't know. I told my husband i was going for a color job on Wed, he was like what did you just have it done. I was like yeah, he was like wow that didn't last long, and i noticed that too.
Maybe  I should just color my self.. i'm not going blonde or anything, i was told to keep it dark and short so it doesn't appear to be thinning which helps,but still every two weeks to blow money on a color job, when i can do it myself. 
Any clue on how to do highlights myself then???

Hey Annmarie--I am a hair dresser and I have never seen the color not lasting--are you talking about your roots growing out or the color not covering the hair as good as it did?  If it is your roots-the vitamins are the culprit--if it is the color not covering-then your stylist needs to recheck her formula and keep it on longer.  To try and highlight at home-you could by the home kits-but that is a little risky due to the fact it could not give you the color you want.  The thinning does not affect the color-becareful on the highlighting because that could cause breaking if it is lifted too much.   I hope this helps a little-I would talk with your hair dresser to see if there is something she could recommend to help you.

 my color FADES so fast, since surgery i have noticed that it FADEs. It goes from a really pretty brown with nice high lighs, to a Copper red color with washed out almost gone high lights. Makes me so sad, i mean i know its falling out, but man fading like this is breaking the bank.. 
I would rather spend 10 bucks on a box color at walmart then the 95 every two weeks.. 
So we'll see.. i hate to not pay her to make my hair pretty but man, for it not fade as fast who knows..
